LAKE ERIE COLLEGE > ABOUT LEC > CAMPUS TOUR > MORLEY MEMORIAL MUSIC HALL

The colorful history of Morley Music Hall is only hinted at by its classic Greek design and Bedford limestone construction. From the names of the composers carved on the stones of its exterior walls to the many famous musicians who have played on its stage, Morley is surrounded in a rich history that parallels the sense of tradition at Lake Erie College. In April of 1978, this tradition served all the people of Ohio when the Ohio Supreme Court held its sessions in the Morley Music Building.

Today, the Music Hall serves our music students with its practice rooms and music library. However, the grandeur of Morley's more than 800 person seating capacity, Philippine Mahogany interior and piano elevators normally serves Lake Erie College during convocations, artistic performances, lecture series and other special occasions. Extensive renovation of the Morley Music Building was completed in 1991 and again in 2006.

Considered, acoustically, as one of the best small concert halls in the world, it houses a magnificent 64-rank, six-division, E.M. Skinner organ, built in 1927 and a 1925 Steinway concert grand piano.
