Permanent, Part-Time, Teaching Position
Reports to the Dean of the School of Natural Sciences & Mathematics
Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational, 4-year, independent Liberal Arts College located in Painesville, OH, 30-miles east of Cleveland, seeks applicants to fill a permanent, part-time teaching position in the School of Natural Sciences & Mathematics in Biology for the 2012-13 academic year. The responsibilities of the position are primarily teaching. However, all permanent faculty members at Lake Erie College have some service requirements to the College in addition to their teaching responsibilities.
General Responsibilities:
Primary teaching responsibilities for this position will be Human and Exercise Physiology, and Human Anatomy & Physiology. Other teaching opportunities could include Human Nutrition, Introductory Biology, and/or other courses dependent on the qualifications of the candidate.
The possibility exists for this position to be converted to a full-time position in the future as the needs and budget of the College permit. The availability of the position and the salary level of the position are subject to budgetary constraints.
Qualifications and Requirements:
A Ph.D., or similar terminal degree in a relevant field is preferred, e.g., Biology, Exercise Physiology/Science, etc. Candidates who are ABD and near completion will be considered at the Instructor level. Preference will be given to those candidates who have an interest in developing a major in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology within the School of Natural Sciences & Mathematics.

Floating/Part-Time Security Guard
Reports to the Director of Security
Lake Erie College, located in Painesville, OH seeks applicants for a Floating/Part-Time Security Guard.
The Floating/Part-Time Security guard will ensure the safety and well-being of College students, faculty, staff and its guests. The guard will work closely with all campus offices and departments to assist with safety and security needs. It is required that all security personnel at Lake Erie College have basic security certification or basic peace officer certification.
General Responsibilities
- Escorts students, faculty, staff, and guests to and from campus buildings when requested.
- Patrols campus by foot and by College vehicle routinely throughout shift to prevent unwanted visitors and crimes (extensive stair climbing)
- Locks and unlocks campus buildings according to the facilities schedule.
- Answers the security phone in a timely and polite fashion.
- Exhibits strong customer service and professionalism throughout work shift.
- Completes Incident Report forms when campus crimes, medical emergencies, maintenance concerns, and others are reported.
- Completes the duty log of evening activities.
- Assesses campus parking and administers tickets when appropriate.
- Contacts local emergency services when appropriate.
- Assists with educational programming related to personal safety.
- Provides accurate information to students, staff, faculty and guests.
- Serves as a member of the campus emergency response team.
- Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
A high school diploma or GED, a minimum age of 25 years old, and have a valid driver’s license. Must have the ability to think quickly and react in stressful situations. Possess excellent communication skills, strong work ethic, and have telephone and computer skills. The ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Previous working in security preferred and successful completion of training sessions. Must pass a background and credit check.

Instructional Designer
Full-Time, Faculty Position
Reports to the Interim Dean of the School of Professional & Innovative Studies
Lake Erie College, a small, co-educational four-year, independent liberal arts college located in Painesville, Ohio 30 miles east of Cleveland, seeks applicants to fill a full-time faculty position in the School of Professional and Innovative Studies for the 2012-2013 academic year.
Responsibilities:
This individual will be responsible for developing distance learning and alternative delivery models for the College. The Instructional Designer will play a key role in Lake Erie’s efforts to provide consultation in pedagogy, instructional design, and course development to College faculty and will be responsible for developing policy and protocol for alternative delivery models. These areas of consultation are typically related to courses, modules, and whole curriculum activities for traditional (face-to-face), online, and hybrid course projects. This position will also be involved in designing academic courses or course modules, composing and facilitating various workshops, and providing guidance to faculty and staff.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Candidates must have a master's degree in instructional design or a related field and several years of experience in instructional design. The successful candidate must possess the following qualifications: knowledge and application of instructional design theory, principles, and practices covering a wide array of learning technologies; considerable skills and abilities in a wide array of technology software programs, demonstrable project management skills; excellent communication skills, both oral and written; and sufficient generalist knowledge to be able to serve numerous content areas. Preference will be given to candidates with Ph.D. or Ed.D.; strong interpersonal skills; and experience in a higher education setting. Lake Erie College invites applicants for a Permanent, Part-Time, Instructor of Criminal Justice. The successful candidate should be a generalist and will be expected to teach upper and lower level courses in all areas of criminal justice. Candidates should be capable of developing professional relationships with the local courts, police departments, probation departments, etc. Position will be available Fall 2012.
