Lake Erie College students to present “God”

Lake Erie College will present the theatre production “God,” based on the play by famed Hollywood icon, Woody Allen, Nov. 18-21 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. in the C.K. Rickel Theatre of the Fine Arts Building.

This hilarious play is set in ancient Greece as a writer and actor prepare for the famous Athenian drama festival. While contemplating how to write a play (should you start with the end and write backwards?), the two meet various strange folks along the way, including: Doris Levine from Cleveland Heights; the man who invented the god-machine; a sarcastic Greek chorus; Blanche Dubois; and Stanley and Groucho Marx.

The rather large cast is exactly what Dr. Jerry Jaffe, director and assistant professor of theatre, had in mind. “I wanted to do a big show and get as many people as involved as possible,” he said. “We have students, faculty, staff members and area professionals as well as my entire TH104 class. It’s like organizing a small army!”

Tickets are $5 for the general public and are free for Lake Erie College students, faculty and staff. For more information, please contact Dr. Jerry Jaffe, assistant professor of theatre, at 440.375.7451 or via e-mail at jjaffe@lec.edu.
