MARK
McNELLIE
HEAD COACH
|
Mark
McNellie joined the Lake Erie coaching
staff in August 2006 as he accepted
the responsibility of building the
Storm football program from the
ground up. He is also in charge
of the strength and conditioning
for all Storm student-athletes.
McNellie arrived at Lake Erie College
by way of Mercyhurst College, where
he spent 17 years on the football
coaching staff- the last four as
assistant head coach. McNellie,
41, worked his way up the Mercyhurst
staff beginning as the defensive
line coach in 1990 before taking
over the linebackers in 1991 and
becoming the defensive coordinator
in 1992. He served as the offensive
coordinator in 2001 and returned
to oversee the defense the following
year when he was elevated to assistant
head coach. He was also involved
with Mercyhurst's transition to
scholarship football in 1998 and
has overseen defenses which have
been nationally ranked in several
categories during his tenure. McNellie
served as the recruiting coordinator
for Mercyhurst football with his
main recruiting area having been
Northeast Ohio.
Before his tenure at Mercyhurst,
McNellie spent two years at Fairmont
State University where he served
one year each as the offensive line
and defensive line coach. He is
a 1988 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace
College, where he was a three-time
football letterman. He earned his
master's degree from West Virginia
University in 1990. He and his wife,
Jennifer, have three children, Calvin
(9), Carson (6) and Raegan (3).
They reside in Concord. |

HAZZARD
OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR
|
|
Gerald
Hazzard came on board as a full-time
member of the Storm coaching staff
in January 2007 as the offensive
coordinator. He came to Lake Erie
College with a combined four years
coaching experience as a student
assistant at the nearby Baldwin-Wallace
College, as well as an offensive
assistant at Gettysburg College.
While at Gettysburg, he coached
the Centennial Conference rushing
champion and the all-purpose champion
in 2005 and 2006, in addition
to the scoring champion in 2006.
Prior to coaching, Hazzard was
a four-year letterman and also
served as team captain at B-W
where he was the 2002 recipient
of the Eloise Tressel "Jacket"
award. He graduated in 2003 with
a bachelor of arts degree in sport
management and then earned a masters
of science degree in athletic
administration from McDaniel College
in 2007.
A 1999 graduate of North Olmsted
High School, he was a three-year
varsity fullback and linebacker.
The lifelong resident of Cleveland
married Emily Laughlin this past
June and currently resides in
Lakewood.

FORMAZ
OFFENSIVE LINE/ STRENGTH &
CONDITIONING COORDINATOR
|
Ian
Formaz became the third full-time member
of the Storm football staff in July 2007.
A recent graduate, earning a bachelor
of arts degree from Baldwin-Wallace College
in 2005 and a master of arts degree from
Concord University in 2007, he spent three
years coaching at the collegiate level.
He served as an offensive and defensive
line coach with Concord University for
two years, in addition to working with
the offensive line for the junior varsity
program at B-W.
His playing career included four years
at B-W - two as a starting lineman. He
earned the Yellow Jackets 2003 Offensive
Lineman of the Year award, and was also
voted First-Team All-Ohio Athletic Conference,
Second-Team All-North Region, First-Team
SID All-America and Second-Team Associated
Press All-American the same year.
The Wadsworth native currently resides
in Painesville. |

MIKE
KRAHE
DEFENSIVE ASSISTANT COACH
|
The
Lake Erie College football team recently
hired Mike Krahe as an assistant defensive
coach. He joins the Storm by way of Mercyhurst
College where he was both a player and
a coach.
Most
recently, Krahe served as a full-time
assistant where he was responsible for
coaching the defensive line and overseeing
the teams strength and conditioning.
Prior to this position, he was a graduate
assistant where he worked specifically
with the defensive line from 2005-06.
As a player, he was a defensive end
from 2000-04 earning All-Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(GLIAC) Honorable Mention in 2004. He
was a three-year starter and was a team
captain during his final season.
The
Erie, Pa. native earned a bachelor's
degree in business administration with
a concentration in sport business.
He
and his wife of three years, Valerie,
have a sixth-month old daughter named
Carolina.

ZANGARO
GRADUATE ASSISTANT
DEFENSIVE BACKS/SPECIAL TEAMS
|
|
The
youngest member of the coaching
staff, 23-year old Brandon Zangaro
has already proven instrumental
to the program by assisting in
the recruiting of the 100-members
of the historic inaugural team
roster. A 2006 graduate and former
player of Mercyhurst College,
he earned a bachelor's degree
in sport business management with
a minor in marketing. The former
Lakers' team captain was a fullback,
safety and outside linebacker
and earned Special Teams Player
of the Year.
The Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania native
is also a graduate of North Hills
High School where he was a team
captain and three-time, first-team
all-conference selection. He was
also a member of Pittsburgh's
Terrific 22.
He is currently pursuing a master's
degree from Lake Erie while residing
in Painesville.

Sean
Allgood is in his first season
with the Storm football program
as a wide receivers coach. He
was the assistant head coach at
Lakeside High School and is a
former assistant coach at Ashtabula
High School. His experience with
the two programs includes working
with special teams, wide receivers
and conditioning. A 1995 graduate
of Northern Illinois University,
he was a four-year starting wide
receiver. He was a team captain,
earned Special Mention All-Big
West, and was a four-time player
of the week during his collegiate
career. He is currently employed
as a child accounting officer
with the Ashtabula County Counseling
Center and resides in Ashtabula.

KINCH
DEFENSIVE LINE COACH
|
|
John
Kinch is in his first year with
Lake Erie College as a defensive
line coach. A varsity coach at
Riverside High School since 1996,
he was a four-year player at Youngstown
State University where he received
a bachelor of science degree in
1983. He also spent five years
in the Canadian Football League
as a running back for the Hamilton
Tigercats, the Toronto Argonauts
and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
In 1995, he was inducted in the
YSU Athletic Hall of Fame. He
is currently employed by the Lake
County Juvenile Court and resides
in Painesville.

TIGHT ENDS COACH
|
|
Joining
the Storm in its first season
is tight end coach Bud McNellie.
He has 15 years of coaching experience
at the high school level, serving
five as head coach at Bedford,
three as head coach at Cloverleaf,
and one year each as an assistant
at Olmsted Falls and Defiance.
As a player, he was an offensive
lineman at nearby Geneva High
School before moving on to play
at Baldwin-Wallace College. He
earned a bachelor's degree from
B-W in 1961, a master's degree
from Kent State University in
1966 and an education specialist
degree from Kent in 1975. He and
his wife Judy, who reside in Chagrin
Falls have three children, Beth,
Mark and Debbie.

WEIDIG
QUARTERBACKS COACH

| Brett
Weidig signed on to work with the
quarterbacks this year in his first
season of coaching. A graduate of
nearby Chardon High School, he played
quarterback for the Hilltoppers
from 1994-97. He then went on to
be the quarterback at Mercyhurst
College where he graduated with
a bachelor's degree in business
marketing in 2002. Currently he
is employed as a sales representative
for American Roll Form. He resides
in Chardon. |

FEOLA
LINEBACKERS COACH
|
|
Frank
Feola is in his first season as
a member of the Lake Erie College
coaching staff and will coach
the linebackers. A player at Geneva
College, he earned a bachelor's
degree from the institution in
1972. A member of the Million
Dollar Round Table, he is a certified
financial planner for Eagle Strategies
Corp. which is a subsidiary of
New York Life. He volunteers with
Catholic Charities and is the
Mentor Civil Service Chair and
Project Hope IBIM Race/Walk co-chair.
He is a native of New Castle,
Pennsylvania and currently resides
in Mentor with his wife of 34
years, Marsha. They have three
children, Frank, Ryan and Lauren,
as well as a grandson, Frank.

KEVIN
HOOPER
KICKERS/PUNTERS COACH
|
|
Kevin
Hooper joins the Lake Erie College
coaching staff for his first season
of collegiate coaching. He spent
a total of eight years at the
high school level as a special
teams coach. He worked at Madison
High School from 1990-91 and Perry
High School from 2001-06 in which
time he coached several All-Ohio
kickers and punters. A graduate
of Chardon High School, he is
currently employed as a machinist
at Perfection Corporation in Madison.
He and his wife of 21 years, Anne,
reside in Perry. They have two
children, Ryan (19) and Alex (17).
