Milt Johnson is in his seventh year of coaching with the Lake Erie College golf program. This is his seventh season with the men's team and his second with the women's team. On the men's side, Johnson was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Coach of the Year in 2007 after leading the team to its best season in program history. He coached the AMCC Co-Player of the Year who earned three of the league's five Player of the Week honors. Johnson also led the women's golf team in its first official season of competition in 2007.
In 2008, Johnson will direct both teams in their debuts at the NCAA Division II level as they compete independently as provisional members.
Johnson was born in Painesville, Ohio and attended nearby Harvey High School. He continued his education at Mount Union College where he earned a bachelor's degree in business administration. He was a two-sport athlete at Harvey, participating in golf and basketball. As a four-year letterman, Johnson continued his golf career at Mount Union where he was also a four-year letterman for the Purple Raiders.
Johnson has coaching experience at both the high school and college levels. He coached the Lake Catholic High School junior varsity golf team for two years and the Lake Erie Storm women's basketball team for one season. Johnson also coached CYO basketball for 12 years.
He is currently the head professional at Fairway Pines Golf Course and has been a PGA Class A member since 1981. He resides in Painesville.
