Kimberly Peters Barone
Kimberly Peters Barone received a bachelor of science degree in biology from Lake Erie College in 1996.
While attending Lake Erie College, she participated in Team de Ville for four consecutive years, was on the Tiber yearbook staff, a member of Mortar Board and worked in the offices of college life and admissions.
Peters Barone participated in the International Horse Show Association (IHSA) from 1992 through 1995. While competing for Lake Erie College, she was the 1995 winner of the Cacchione Cup, the highest level of achievement in collegiate competition, at the IHSA Nationals at Colorado State University. The previous year, she won the Zone Finals open over fences, placed fourth at Nationals in the open over fences category and was also a Cacchione Cup qualifier that year. She competed in Holland at the International Intercollegiate contest where 16 countries were represented.
While in Holland, Peters Barone placed second in the over fences category. She was married in January 2001, and has her own horse business outside of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She still competes all over the country in the Hunter and Jumper divisions and also attends a competition annually in West Palm Beach, Florida.
The Athletic Hall of Fame Committee recognizes all these accomplishments by Kimberly Peters Barone with induction into the Lake Erie College Athletic Hall of Fame on May 19, 2001.
Anne McKeon Corlew
Anne McKeon Corlew, originally from Montville, Ohio, attended Lake Erie College from 1988-1993.
She graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education in the fall of 1993. While at Lake Erie, she participated in volleyball and softball for four years and played two years of basketball for the Lady Storm.
McKeon Corlew was named "Lake Erie College Female Athlete of the Year" in 1992, earning her the Jane White Lincoln Award. To add to her accomplishments, she was also chosen to receive the Coaches Award in volleyball during both the 1990 and 1991 seasons. She was named a National Small College Athletic Association (NSCAA) All-American for her achievements on the volleyball court in 1991. She was also and NAIA Honorable Mention All-District volleyball player in 1989 and 1991.
McKeon Corlew was an important part of the Lake Erie College softball team that won the NSCAA National Softball championships in 1991 becoming an NSCAA All-American. As a member of the basketball team during the '88-89 season, she led the team in steals, averaging 1.6 per game.
She continued to use her athletic talent after graduation, coaching volleyball and softball at her alma mater, Ledgemont High School. She became Mrs. Jay Corlew in 1994, and the couple has three young children.

Nancy Marilee Smith
Nancy Marilee Smith graduated from Lake Erie College in 1978 with a double major in equestrian studies and sociology.
During her four years at LEC, Smith was an intricate member of the Dressage team. Nancy was a member of the Gold Medal Team at the Dressage Prix de Ville in 1977 and earned a Bronze Medal in 1978 at the United States Dressage Federation.
In 1987, she was the recipient of a Silver Medal at the Olympic Sports Festival, where she rode "Felit". The following year, Smith represented the United States and brought home the Bronze Medal from the North American Championships, where she was also riding "Felit".
In 1992, Smith was endorsed by three-time Olympian Robert Dover, confirming her depth of talent, determination and contribution to the sport of dressage. During 1995, another Olympian by the name of Michael Poulin endorsed her. In the same year, she was declared by the United States Equestrian Team to be among the top 12 dressage riders in the nation aboard her mount "Focus".
Twenty-one years after graduating from Lake Erie College, Smith was still being recognized for her riding abilities. She was the second alternate to the Dressage Pan-American Team. She was also ranked sixth in the nation for the Prix St. Georges/Intermediare 1 competition, riding "Etias".
Nancy currently lives in Mt. Dora, Florida and continues to pursue a berth of the United States Olympic Team.

Amber Garnet Sowers
Amber Garnet Sowers earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Lake Erie College in 1995. Garnet Sowers played four years of basketball and one year of softball for the Lady Storm. She was named "Lake Erie College Female Athlete of the Year" in 1994 for her many accomplishments on the court as well as the softball field. She was a four-year letter winner in basketball, and was recognized as an NAIA All-District 22 basketball player for her achievements during the 1994 season.
She scored 1,476 points during her four years at Lake Erie College, which at the time of her induction, ranked her as the career scoring leader. Additionally, she held the career record for free throws made with 302, was second in three-pointers made with 138, fourth in rebounds with 605, and second in steals with 196. She was also first in assists with a career total of 394 as of the 2001 rankings.
During 1991, the only year in which she participated in softball, Garnet Sowers was on the team that won the National Small College Athletic Association National Softball Championship. She played third base as well as second base for this national championship team.
After graduation, she went on to coach basketball at the middle school level for one season. She is currently self-employed in the watercraft business and was recently married.
