Athletics Hall of Fame Reaches 4
|
Georgie (Fust) Patterson joins 41 other outstanding athletes named to the Lake Erie College Athletic Hall of Fame.
In 1948, few women were able to take advantage of opportunities to travel abroad or even out of state for athletic contests; however, Patterson accomplished both feats.
A member of the field hockey team, Patterson traveled to Philadelphia to compete in nationals. She was also a member of the tennis team, playing doubles and singles.

Patterson even traveled throughout Europe in 1948 with tennis pro Mary Kay Brown. She visited England, Scotland, France, Belgium, Holland and Switzerland.
She also competed on the basketball court and threw shot put as a member of the Track and Field team. Her enthusiasm towards athletics was not only displayed on the field, but in her work with the Athletic Association.
Patterson remains active today as she has added golf skills to her athletic ability and keeps up with her seven grandchildren. She resides in Erie, Pa., and winters in Vero Beach, Fla., but makes time for her son and two daughters. |
