Coaching Staff

JIM DOLAN enters his fourth season as Lake Erie’s head coach. Dolan came to the College with an impressive high school and junior college career. At each of the high schools he coached between 1980 and 1993, his teams improved from five wins or less seasons and won league championships. Dolan compiled an overall record of 325-144 during that span.

Dolan exited the high school scene to take the head coaching position at nearby Lakeland Community College. While there he put together five 20-win seasons, a school record, en route to a 105-35 career mark. His teams also won two Ohio Community College Championships and put strongholds on most school records.

The challenge at Lake Erie has been similar to Dolan’s other coaching jobs. Under his guidance the program has increased its win total in successive seasons, including a school record 12-win season in 2002-03.
Dolan, who holds degrees in education from Hiram College and Kent State University resides in Painesville with his wife, Mary Anne, and son Sean, who is working toward a graduate degree at Cleveland State University. Dolan’s daughter, Meaghan, is completing her graduate program at Fordham University in New York.

RANDY BRUBACK begins his second season as an assistant coach for the Storm.

Bruback previously coached at the junior high and high school levels for Minster High, New Bremen High, Sidney Lehman Catholic High and Fort Laramie High. A 1976 graduate from Muskingum Technical College Bruback currently resides in Painesville with his wife, Kristine, and sons, Zac and Marcus. He works full-time as Painesville’s Water Pollution Control Superintendent.

BRIAN BURG comes to Lake Erie as a graduate assistant coach after one season as a student assistant coach at his alma mater, Mount Mercy College (Iowa).

A native of Houston, Texas, Burg graduated from Cisco Junior College in 2000 after playing two seasons, one as a captain, for the nationally ranked Wranglers under Ronnie Hearne. Following his years at Cisco, Burg played two seasons under Paul Gavin at Mount Mercy, where the Mustangs were nationally ranked at the NAIA Division II level. As a player, Burg, who served as team captain during his senior year, finished 10th in the nation in free throw percentage while setting school records from the line.

Burg graduated with a double major in secondary education and history and is currently working toward a Masters of Science in Education.
