Sonic Storm Basketball Pep Band
- FAQ
What Instruments do you need for the Pep Band?
Percussion (including Drum Set), Bass Guitar, Electric
Guitar, Keyboard, Tuba, Baritone/Euphonium, Trombone,
French Horn, Trumpet/Cornet, Saxophone, Clarinet,
Flute, Piccolo, Bells,
and though not traditionally considered "Pep
Band Instruments" we'll even take Oboists and
Bassoonists.
Who can join the Pep Band?
You do not have to be a music major to be in the pep
band. The Sonic Storm Pep Band welcomes students,
staff, faculty, alumni, and members of the community
who want to have fun making music while supporting
the Lake Erie College Basketball teams.
How good of a player do I need to be?
If you can read music at at least high school level,
and either currently play one of the instruments listed
above or played in band in high school (whether that
was a year ago or decades ago), you are welcome to
join!
Do I need to supply my own instrument?
If you have your band instrument sitting in a closet
back at home, please try to make arrangements to get
it before November. If you used to play an instrument
that you no longer own (or never personally owned
such as tuba, or baritone saxophone), please email
the Pep Band Director by clicking on the "Contact"
link on the left side of this webpage, and we'll do
our best to come up with an instrument for you to
use.
When are the rehearsals?
Currently, we are planning to rehearse once a week
during the month of November (no rehearsals during
Thanksgiving Break). The exact days and times will
be determined after a survey is done of all pep band
members to see what will work best with most people's
schedules.
When are the performances?
The purpose of the Pep Band is to support the basketball
teams and provide musical entertainment at home basketball
games. The first home game performances will be on
the evening of Wednesday, November 29th. The Pep Band
performance schedule will be posted on the performance
schedule page of this website.
What if I cant make it to every rehearsal
or performance?
The pep band schedule will not be overly demanding.
We realize that conflicts will come up, and we will
be flexible and work with you so that Pep Band will
fit into your life.
What kind of music will the group play?
The music we perform will be high energy and will
range from good old hearty pep music to jazz to rock
- from "old school" to "new school".
Does it cost anything to be in the Pep Band?
No (except for a little of your time, energy, and
enthusiasm).
What do I need to do to sign-up for the Pep Band?
Send an email as soon as possible with your name,
instrument that you play (please let us know if you
need to borrow an instrument), and phone number. To
email the Pep Band Director with this info, please
click on the "Contact" link on the left
side of this webpage.
