BARB MOORE -
HEAD ATHLETIC TRAINER
|
|
Barb Moore officially began her duties as the head athletic trainer with the Storm on March 23, 2007. She is responsible for the athletic health care associated with Lake Erie's 13 varsity programs and club football team. She also oversees the field work of the sports medicine student aides.
She arrived at Lake Erie after serving as the head athletic trainer at Case Western Reserve University since 1999 where she was responsible for the care of 21 athletic teams. She also worked for Ohio Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine from 1994-99.
In addition to a professional license from Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Athletic Trainers Board, Moore has certifications from the National Athletic Trainers' Association (NATA), is a NATA Certified Examiner and an American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider. She is a member of NATA, the Ohio Athletic Trainers' Association, the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers' Association and the National Strength and Conditioning Association.
A graduate of Heidelberg College and West Virginia University, Moore is an Athletic Hall of Fame member at Perry High School, as well as Heidelberg.

NICOLE JEWELL -
ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER
|
|
Nicole Jewell is in her second season as an assistant athletic trainer at Lake Erie College, working with the Storm’s 20 varsity sports teams.
She came to Lake Erie after serving as a graduate assistant at Norfolk State University while she earned her master’s degree in physical education from Old Dominion University in May of 2008. Jewell earned her bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Capital University.
A certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association (OATA), Jewell received the Special Consideration Award from the OATA in May 2009 for her life-saving efforts involving a women’s soccer player.
The Baltimore, Ohio native currently resides in Mentor with her husband Nickolas and step-daughter Samantha.

MOLLY SERSIG -
ASSISTANT ATHLETIC TRAINER
|
|
The newest member of the Lake Erie College athletic training staff, Molly Sersig joined the Storm in the summer of 2009. She came to Lake Erie from nearby John Carroll University where she was an assistant athletic trainer for two years working primarily with the varsity soccer, basketball and softball programs in addition to several club sports.
A 2007 graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College with a bachelor’s degree in athletic training and exercise science, Sersig was an All-Ohio Athletic Conference softball player for the Yellow Jackets.
She is a certified member of the National Athletic Trainers Association (NATA), the Great Lakes Athletic Trainers Association and the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association (OATA)
A native of Wooster, Ohio, Sersig currently resides in Mayfield Heights. Her fiancé, Zach, is an athletic trainer with the Great Lakes Loons, the Single-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
