Season Comes to Close at Pitt-Greensburg
Oct.
25 - The Lake Erie College volleyball team ended its season with a
3-0 loss at Pitt-Greensburg.
The Storm,
led by sophomores Crystal Limpert and Jennifer Bartholomew, lost 30-13,
30-23, 30-26. Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) totaled 10 digs
and three kills while Bartholomew (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire) finished
with six kills and three blocks.
Lake Erie
finished the year with an overall record of 1-25 and a 0-12 mark in
Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference play.
LaMarca
Leads Storm in Losing Effort
Oct.
21 - Tammy LaMarca totaled 10 digs to lead the Lake Erie College volleyball
team in a 3-0 loss to La Roche at Lincoln Gym.
LaMarca
(West Park, Ohio/John Marshall), a junior, also registered a team-high
seven assists while sophomore Jennifer Bartholomew (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire)
added six kills, respectively.
La Roche
defeated Lake Erie (1-24, 0-11), 30-23, 30-13, 30-13.
The Storm
will end their regular season this Saturday, Oct. 25, on the road
at Pitt-Greensburg. The match is scheduled for 1:00.
Volleyball Loses Two on Weekend Road Trip
Oct.
19 - The Lake Erie College volleyball lost two Allegheny Mountain
Collegiate Conference matches this weekend, falling 3-0 on Saturday
at Frostburg State and 3-0 on Sunday at Penn State-Altoona.
The Storm
fell 30-8, 30-11, 30-8 at Frostburg before being swept 30-12, 30-13,
30-21 at Altoona.
Sophomore
Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) and freshman Kris
Trifiletti (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) each had six digs in the Frostburg
loss while Limpert led Lake Erie (1-23, 0-10) with eight digs in the
second losing effort.
The Storm
return to Lincoln Gym to host their final home match, a 7:00 Allegheny
Mountain Collegiate Conference showdown against La Roche, on Tuesday,
Oct. 21.

Drops Conference Home Match
Oct.
15 - The Lake Erie College volleyball team lost, 3-0, to Pitt-Bradford
in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference home match.
Freshman
Tiffany Zink (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) finished the match with
nine assists, and sophomore Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John
Marshall) totaled three kills in addition to a team-high seven digs.
The Lady
Bobcats won in straight games, 30-15, 30-15, 30-18.
The Storm
(1-21, 0-8) will travel to Frostburg State on Saturday, Oct. 18 for
another AMCC match-up. Frostburg topped Lake Erie earlier in the season,
3-0, at Lincoln Gym.
Volleyball
Loses Seventh Straight
Oct.
7 - The Lake Erie volleyball lost, 3-0, to Penn State-Behrend and
dropped to 0-7 in the conference and 1-20 on the season.
Sophomore
Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) led the Storm with
five kills and 12 digs in the loss.
The Lions
defeated Lake Erie 30-14, 30-22, 30-17.
The team
is off for over a week and will return to Lincoln Gym for another
Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match-up on Wednesday, Oct.
15. They will host Pitt-Bradford at 7:00.
Lake
Erie Volleyball Falls at Home
Oct. 4 - Pitt-Greensburg prevailed, 3-0, over Lake Erie College
in volleyball. The Bobcats picked up their first Allegheny Mountain
Collegiate Conference win while Lake Erie fell to 0-6.
Pitt-Greensburg
defeated the Storm in straight games, 30-17, 30-23, 30-24.
Junior
Tammy LaMarca (West Park, Ohio/John Marshall) led Lake Erie (1-19,
0-6) with eight kills and seven digs while sophomore Crystal Limpert
(Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) and freshman Kris Trifiletti (Concord,
Ohio/Riverside) each totaled 10 digs.
The Storm
will face Penn State-Behrend on Tuesday, Oct. 7 at Lincoln Gymnasium.
The match is scheduled to begin at 7:00.
Storm
Loses, 3-0, at Medaile
Oct. 2 - Medaille College defeated Lake Erie, 3-0, for the second
time this season.
The Mavericks
won 30-18, 30-21, 30-15 and dropped Lake Erie to 1-18 on the year.
Sophomore
Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) led the Storm with
13 digs and four kills while junior Tammy LaMarca (West Park, Ohio/John
Marshall) totaled 11 kills and seven digs.
Lake Erie
returns home for an AMCC match-up versus Pitt-Greensburg on Saturday,
Oct. 4. The Storm, who are 0-5 in conference play, will try to pick
up their first AMCC win over the Bobcats, who are 1-17 on the year
with a 0-4 mark in the conference. Their only win was a 3-0 (30-16,
30-14, 30-20) blanking of Lake Erie in the Oberlin Invitational on
Aug. 30. Saturday's start is scheduled for 1:00.
Volleyball Loses, 3-0, at La Roche
Sept. 30 - The Lake Erie Volleyball team's AMCC record slipped
to 0-5 after a 3-0 (30-10, 30-16, 30-10) loss at LaRoche.
Sophomore
Crystal Limpert led the Storm with nine digs and three kills.
Lake Erie
(1-17, 0-5) is back on the road Thursday, Oct. 2 for a match against
Medaille. The Mavericks defeated the Storm, 3-0 (30-25, 30-21, 30-22)
at Lincoln Gym on Sept. 4.
Penn
State-Altoona Tops Lake Erie, 3-0
Sept. 27 - The Lake Erie College volleyball team lost to Penn State-Altoona,
3-0 (30-15, 30-16, 30-27) in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference
action.
The Storm, led by junior Tammy LaMarca (West Park, Ohio/John Marshall),
fell to 1-16 on the season and 0-4 in conference play. LaMarca totaled
nine kills and seven digs in the loss.
Sophomore Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) added 15
digs while fellow sophomore Jennifer Bartholomew (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire)
had 12.
Lake Erie will travel to La Roche on Tuesday, Sept. 30 for its fourth
AMCC match. The match is slated to begin at 7:00.
Lake Erie Downed by Frostburg State, 3-0
Sept. 26 - In its third Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference match
of the season, Lake Erie College was defeated, 3-0 (30-15, 30-19,
30-9), by Frostburg State.
Frostburg, which came in with a 13-2 overall record and a 1-0 mark
in the AMCC, fought off the Storm. Freshman Amanda Hernandez led the
Bobcats with 20 assists and four service aces. As a team Frostburg
totaled 19 aces and 29 kills. Alana Boyle, a freshman, totaled six
kills while senior Kelli Bumgarner, and freshmen Lauren Weller and
Kelly May each finished with four. Lori Potts, another freshman, finished
with a team-high seven digs.
Freshman Kris Trifiletti (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) had seven digs
to lead the Storm, who return to action tomorrow at the Lincoln Gym
against Penn State-Altoona in another AMCC match-up.
Storm Lose at Pitt-Bradford
Sept. 25 - The Lake Erie volleyball team dropped to 0-2 in Allegheny
Mountain Collegiate Conference play with a 3-0 (31-29, 30-17, 30-18)
loss at Pitt-Bradford.
Freshman Tiffany Zink (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) recorded 16 assists
while sophomore Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) had
seven digs.
Lake Erie (0-2, 1-14) hosts Frostburg State on Friday, September 26
at 6:00. It is the Storm's first home AMCC match.
Storm Volleyball Wins at Hilbert
Sept. 23 - The Lake Erie volleyball team captured its first win of
the season, blanking Hilbert 3-0 (30-20, 32-30, 30-18) on Monday,
Sept. 22.
Freshman Kris Trifiletti (Concord, Ohio/Riverside) led the Storm with
six kills and 10 digs while sophomore Jennifer Bartholomew (Burton,
Ohio/Berkshire) added a team-high seven kills. Tiffany Zink, a freshman,
finished with 17 assists in the win.
Lake Erie (1-13, 0-1) will travel to Pitt-Bradford on Wednesday, Sept.
24 to continue conference play. The Storm is 0-1 in the AMCC thus
far, falling to Penn State-Behrend last week, 3-0.
Thiel Tops Lake Erie, 3-0
Sept. 19 - The Lake Erie College volleyball team jumped out to an
early lead in the first game at Thiel but failed to capitalize, losing
3-0 (30-26, 30-14, 30-20). The loss dropped the Storm to 0-13 on the
season.
Junior Tammy LaMarca (West Park, Ohio/John Marshall) finished with
seven digs to lead Lake Erie while sophomore Crystal Limpert (Cleveland,
Ohio/John Marshall) added four digs, four kills and four service aces.
The Storm will be back on the road on Monday, Sept. 22, visiting Hilbert.
The game is slated for 7:00 p.m.
Storm Lose First AMCC Contest
Sept. 18 - Penn State-Behrend defeated the Lake Erie volleyball team,
3-0 (30-18, 30-15, 30-15) in each team's first Allegheny Mountain
Collegiate Conference (AMCC) match.
The Storm, who fell to 0-12 on the season, will be back in action
tomorrow night, Friday, Sept. 19, at Thiel College. A 7:00 p.m. start
is scheduled.
Storm Volleyball Loses Four at Otterbein Classic
Sept. 14 - Lake Erie College lost four matches over the weekend at
the Otterbein Classic. The Storm (0-11) fell to Waynesburg to open
the tournament on Friday, and lost to Urbana, Capital and Thiel on
Saturday.
Waynesburg overpowered the Storm en route to a 3-0 (30-5, 30-13, 30-16)
win. Sophomore Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) totaled
11 digs in the losing effort while freshman Kris Trifiletti (Concord,
Ohio/Riverside) had four kills and six digs.
In its first match on Saturday, Lake Erie lost 3-0 (30-11, 30-23,
30-12) to Urbana. Limpert had 17 digs to again lead the Storm.
Limpert had 11 digs and fellow sophomore Jen Bartholomew (Burton,
Ohio/Berkshire) recorded eight kills and three digs in the 3-0 (30-15,
30-13, 30-9) loss to Capital.
In the seventh place match Thiel out dueled Lake Erie, winning 3-0
(30-22, 30-20, 30-25). Freshman Tiffany Zink (Lake Orion, MI/Lake
Orion) led the Storm with 14 assists in the loss. Limpert added eight
digs.
Lake Erie heads to Penn State-Behrend on Thursday, Sept. 18 to open
its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference season. The game is slated
for 7:00.
Oberlin Tops Lake Erie, 3-0
Sept. 10 - Oberlin College defeated Lake Erie in straight games, 30-15,
30-16, 30-12, and improved to 4-6 on the season. Meanwhile, the Storm
fell to 0-7.
Sophomore Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) added 19
digs while junior Tammy LaMarca (West Park, Ohio/John Marshall) had
four kills and 10 digs to lead Lake Erie, who are in action again
Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13 at the Otterbein Classic.
Freshman Tiffany Zink (Lake Orion, MI/Lake Orion) had 10 assists and
fellow first-year Amanda Gordon (Leavittsburg, Ohio/LaBrae) totaled
nine kills in the loss.
Lake Erie Loses Sixth Consecutive for Season, 19th in a Row
Sept. 4 - Medaille College defeated Lake Erie, 3-0 (30-25, 30-21,
30-22), behind a strong performance from freshman Lauren Smith.
Smith led the Mavericks with 10 kills and added eight digs while junior
Jenny Costello had a team-high 11 assists. Sophomore Kim Braunscheidel
led Medaille with 10 digs.
Freshman Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall) paced Lake
Erie (0-6) with 14 digs. Sophomore Jennifer Bartholomew (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire)
and junior Tammy LaMarca (West Park, Ohio/John Marshall) each added
five kills in the losing effort.
The Storm is back in action next Wednesday, Sept. 10 at home versus
Oberlin.
Storm Volleyball Falters in Home Opener
Sept. 2 - Ohio Wesleyan defeated Lake Erie for the second time this
season, blanking the Storm in their home opener, 3-0 (30-21, 30-16,
30-19).
Sophomore Tammy LaMarca (West Park, Ohio/John Marshall) led the Storm
with five kills and nine digs while freshman Tiffany Zink (Lake Orion,
MI/Lake Orion) totaled nine assists in the loss.
Lake Erie fell to 0-5 while Ohio Wesleyan improved to 4-1.
The Storm play again Thursday, Sept. 4 at home versus Medaille College.
Lake Erie Finishes Eighth
Aug. 30 - Lake Erie finished eighth at the Oberlin Invitational after
losing to Grove City College and Pitt-Greensburg.
Pitt-Greensburg swept the Storm 3-0 (30-16, 30-14, 30-18) in the seventh
place match.
Freshman Tiffany Zink (Lake Orion, MI/Lake Orion) finished with 16
assists while sophomore Crystal Limpert (Cleveland, Ohio/John Marshall)
and freshman Amanda Gordon (Leavittsburg, Ohio/LaBrae) had six digs
each.
Grove City also swept Lake Erie in earlier action. The Wolverines
won, 3-0 (30-9, 30-11, 30-8).
Zink had 10 assists and Limpert added a team-high nine digs in the
losing effort.
The Storm will open their home schedule on Tuesday, Sept. 2 against
Ohio Wesleyan.
Lake Erie Loses Two at Oberlin Invitational
Aug 29 - Lake Erie opened its season with a 3-0 loss to Ohio Wesleyan
at the Oberlin Invitational.
The Battling Bishops won the three games 30-17, 30-9, 30-18.
Freshman Tiffany Zink (Lake Orion, MI/Lake Orion) led the Storm with
six assists and two service aces, while fellow freshman Amelia Bradley
(Niles, Ohio/Niles McKinley) recorded 14 digs.
Lake Erie fell to D'Youville in its evening match, 3-1.
D'Youville won the opening game, 30-19, while the Storm battled for
a 30-26 win in the second. However, the Spartans won the final two
games, 30-14 and 30-20, to earn the victory.
Freshman Amanda Gordon (Leavittsburg, Ohio/LaBrae) finished the match
with eight kills and 22 digs to lead the Storm. Bradley added 10 digs.
Lake Erie will continue play at the Oberlin Invitational tomorrow
against Grove City.
