In just two years at the helm of the cross country program, Bryan Harmon led the Storm to their highest finish in the AMCC since the league expanded to 10 teams. Now, after beginning the College's first club track and field team in the spring of 2007, he will serve as the head coach for both the men's and women's teams as they earn full-fledged varsity status with the 2007-08 academic year.
The Mentor native has a strong running history, having tallied seven collegiate letters in track and cross country, as well as earning Most Improved Runner honors for the Tiffin University cross country program in 2002. He was also a part of back-to-back conference track championships his junior and senior years.
Since graduating from Tiffin with a degree in sports management, he continues to compete in the sport regularly, most recently running in this year's Boston Marathon for the second time. In his debut, he finished 260th overall and was in the top three among Ohio runners with a time of two hours, 45 minutes and 30 seconds.

Garry Washington joins the Storm track and field program this season as an assistant after being involved in the sport as both an athlete and a coach. On the coaching side, he most recently was at Abilene Christian University from 2005-07 when the team won two NCAA Division II National Championships. He had the opportunity of coaching 20 national champions and an Olympian. Washington has also coached in the college ranks for football and cross country.
On the playing side, he attended the University of Oregon, Kent State University, St. Cloud State University and Abilene where he played football, basketball, baseball, volleyball, rugby, soccer and crew, in addition to track and field. He was an NFL free agent as well as a Pro-Am beach volleyball player.
Washington earned a bachelor's degree in sociology, applied sciences from Abilene in 2006 and is currently working toward a master's degree in academic advising/intercollegiate sports from Kansas State University. He is a 17-year volunteer as an administrator for the non-profit organizations of FCA and S.A.A.B., as well as a member of AVP and USTAF.
The Cleveland, Ohio native, resides in Painesville with his wife Gloria and has four children - Anthony (18), Lauren (13), Garry (9) and Kennedy (6).

Dane Van Buren

Dane Van Buren is in his first season as an assistant coach with the Lake Erie College track and field program. He recently earned an associate's degree from Barton County Community College where he was selected as an NJCAA All-American. He finished second in 2006 in the NJCAA Track and Field Championships in the 110-meter high hurdles.
A graduate of Mansfield Senior High School, he is the record holder in both the 110 and 300-meter hurdles. He finished second in the 2004 Ohio State Track and Field Championship in the 110-meter high hurdles and was fourth in the 300-meter hurdles. His personal records are 13.85 seconds and 38.08 seconds, respectively.
Van Buren is currently working toward a bachelor's degree in communications from Lake Erie.
