Here is a list of the student-athletes who have committed to compete at Lake Erie College in the sport of women's track & field for the 2009-10 academic year:
Colleen Bednar Sprints/Jumps Brunswick HS Brunswick, Ohio
"Colleen brings a ton to the table for us. She can short sprint, she can long sprint, she can run on relays and she can long jump. She works hard and does excellent work in the classroom. She is definitely someone you want around when you're in the process of building a successful program."
Ciera Greene Distance Greenview HS Bowersville, Ohio
"Ciera will make an immediate impact on the cross country team, while also being a solid distance runner on the track team. Whenever you lose your top runner from the previous year to graduation, you need someone to fill that void. Ciera has the chance to fill that void and be a top three runner from the get-go for us."
Whitney Johnson Sprints/Hurdles Bedford HS Oakwood Village, Ohio
"Whitney has a chance to make her mark in multiple areas for the Storm program. She is a great 300-meter hurdler who is still learning to run thee 100 hurdles and could really excel at that race in the future. Whitney can also run the open sprint races as she possesses great 100- and 200-meter speed. Additionally, she will fill several gaps in the relays."
Leah Jones Distance Maple Heights HS Maple Heights, Ohio
"Leah will run cross country and track for the Storm. She is another athlete who just continues to improve throughout her senior season of high school competition. Leah comes from a good high school program so she will be used to working hard when she arrives at Lake Erie in the fall. A solid cross country season and steady increase in training mileage will pay dividends for her come track season."
Ann Neading Sprints Trinity HS Walton Hills, Ohio
"Ann is someone who we feel has a ton of room for growth and improvement. She is currently making significant improvements week-by-week during her senior track season at Trinity and we plan to continue that trend in the winter. With some solid strength training, Ann has the chance to be a great 400-meter runner."
Ember Ryan Mid-Distance Fairbanks HS Mechanicsburg, Ohio
"Ember can do a lot of things. She can run a good 400, she can hurdle and she can run cross country. She is going to provide us with a lot of depth and versatility. With some more base training, I think Ember can be great at the 800-meter distance."
Sammie Smith Mid-Distance Brunswick HS Brunswick, Ohio
"Sammie's primary event will be the 400-meters, but our goal is to make her a great 800-meter runner as well. She is already tough enough to run a good 800, but once we increase her endurance strength, she can be great at the event. Sammie is going to do much for us next year and we couldn't be happier to have her in the program."
Additional student-athletes will be added to this list.
