How did you find out about the internship?
I found out about the internship through networking. I coached baseball with a municipal judge in Painesville.
How long did it take you to secure the internship position?
After the interview, it took about a week for a decision to be made.
Did the Career Services Office help you in acquiring the internship? If so, please explain how.
I found the internship on my own through networking, but the Career Services Office helped me update my résumé and has helped me continue updating my résumé as my experiences have changed.
Describe the responsibilities within your internship.
-Working with the bailiffs to process court records
-Validating and cross referencing pending Lake county search warrants
-Working in probation office and processing new clients
List three to five highlights from your internship.
-Riding along with police officers
-Sitting in on prosecuting and defense pleas
-Working with bailiffs and processing court files
What is one aspect of your internship that you would have wanted to change?
I wish I could have worked more hours in the week to gain more experience.
Did your internship confirm your anticipated career choice or path?
Yes it did. I love the Criminal Justice field, and the internship made me want to continue in the profession.
Now that you have completed an internship, what advice would you give students about internships?
I would suggest that an internship can help you make up your mind about your future and it helps to get experience in your field.
