The Communication Major

Communication
Degree Awarded
Bachelor of Arts
The Communication major is a broad based program building on the liberal arts foundation all students experience at Lake Erie College. This major provides students with courses both in writing processes and in the history and theory of different forms of communication. This double focus is based on the belief that the processes of oral and written communication must be grounded in substantive understanding of the theoretical and historical backgrounds.
Why choose the Communication Program at LEC?
• Internships that provide hands on experience
• Small classroom sizes that create a personalized learning environment
• Students can gain an understanding of multiple communication methods making them well-rounded and marketable in the field
Opportunities in Communication
Lake Erie College’s communication program offers students an education that will prepare them for careers in almost any field. Our communication graduates are able to work in related fields such as public relations, advertising, journalism and publishing. Lake Erie College is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
International Experiences
Lake Erie College encourages all students to participate in international experiences. Students may wish to spend a semester at one of our “sister” institutions,
earning credits towards their degree while learning about other peoples and cultures.
Other international opportunities for students are Study Tours. Study Tours are two-week trips that full-time students may take their Junior or Senior year. Most of the cost of the trip is included within the tuition.
Academic Requirements
A Bachelors degree requires at least 128 credit hours.
