• Communication and computer skills
• Internship opportunities that provide first hand experience
• Many opportunities for international study to enhance the major and the liberal arts foundation of students

Opportunities in Multi-National Studies

Students graduating with a degree in Multi-National Studies have innumerable opportunities in the job market. The strong background in a variety of international issues and topics provide a foundation that students will find useful in a number of job fields including international relations, business, politics, travel, and communications.
Students may also wish to continue their multi-national education by enrolling in a graduate program in a related discipline.

International Experiences

Lake Erie College encourages all students to participate in international experiences. Students may wish to spend a semester at one of our “sister” institutions earning credits toward their degree while learning about other peoples and cultures. Other international opportunities for students are Study Tours, which are two-week trips that students may take in their Junior or Senior year. Most of the cost of the trip is included within the tuition.

Academic Requirements

A Bachelors Degree requires at least 128 credit hours. All students graduating from Lake Erie College will complete 20 semester hours of basic requirements including courses in Math, English, Computers, Public Speaking, and Foreign Language. These courses are normally completed during the Freshman year.

Students will also complete 24 hours of core liberal arts courses. These courses include the subject areas of critical thinking, aesthetic forms, scientific inquiry, cultures and values, sophisticated texts, and social sciences. Each major has course specific requirements, and any remaining credits will be considered as electives.

Requirements of the Multi-National Studies Major

The Multi-National Studies major requires 52 semester hours of course work in the areas of international business, international relations, geography, economics, and politics. Students are also required to choose an area of focus in either European Studies or Latin American Studies. These areas of focus will include courses in culture and history, as well as language courses relevant to the area of study.
