After graduating from The Ohio State University College of
Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Giedt worked in a mixed practice in North Carolina. Upon returning to Ohio she
started her own general large animal practice where she provided medical,
surgical and reproductive care to horses, cattle, sheep and goats at area
farms.
After many years of running her own practice, Dr. Giedt was
invited to join the faculty at Lake Erie College. Her focus was teaching Equine
Health, Nutrition, Breeding, and Lameness. She maintained her private practice
which enhanced her instructional content and provided opportunities for
students to learn about veterinary medicine.
In 1993 Dr. Giedt returned to full time private practice with
the group at Equine Specialty Hospital.
The hospital provided advanced medical and surgical care for horses in
the tri state area.
Dr. Giedt returned to Lake Erie College and in 2002 she
received tenure and promotion to Associate professor. In 2006 Dr. Giedt was the
recipient of the Excellence in Teaching
Award at Lake Erie
College.
Dr. Giedt has
traveled abroad to Sweden, France, The Netherlands, Scotland, Austria, Germany,
Switzerland and China with Lake Erie College students and faculty.
