After many years of running her own practice, Dr. Giedt was invited to join the faculty at Lake Erie College. Her focus was teaching Equine Health, Nutrition, Breeding, and Lameness. She maintained her private practice which enhanced her instructional content and provided opportunities for students to learn about veterinary medicine.

Dr. Giedt returned to Lake Erie College and in 2002 she received tenure and promotion to Associate professor. In 2006 Dr. Giedt was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award at Lake Erie College.
