As Director of Equine Studies Recruitment and Public Relations,
Cami brings over 20 years experience to the program.
Cami is a 1990 graduate of Lake Erie College, holding a
degree in equine studies. During her
undergraduate work, Cami spent a semester at Patchett’s Equestrian Center in
England, obtaining her Riding and Road Safety Certificate as part of the BHSAI
teaching certification program. Upon
graduation, Cami obtained work at a hunter/jumper facility, managing the
operation in the owner’s absence and sometimes traveling to shows. Cami continued working in a variety of
aspects of the equine industry, such as assisting with the breaking of young horses
and teaching lower-level riding. She
also spent time working at an Arabian breeding facility.
After several years, Cami returned to her alma mater where
she eventually became the Director of Horse Care. In 2005, she completed her MBA at Lake Erie
College and in July of 2012 she moved into her current position. Cami has also served as adjunct faculty as
has both taught and/or team-taught the Horse Care Practicum class, Equine
Health and Balanced Seat I. In order to
accommodate the growing needs of Lake Erie’s expanding equine program, she has
served as project manager of several endeavors such as re-designing the tack
rooms, storage areas and office space.
Cami recently conducted research that involved recycling
horse manure into fuel pellets. A
student intern was onboard with the project, and a successful fuel pellet was
produced.
