Favorite thing about Lake Erie College: I love how much our students are involved on campus. There is always something happening on campus that our students have planned, and new student organizations are being created each year. Students definitely have a huge impact on the daily operations of the college, and I think they leave here with a lot more than a diploma.
Advice for students during their college search: Trust your gut! You will know the second you walk on a campus if it is a good fit for you or not. Don’t let other people (parents, friends, coaches, guidance counselors, etc..) convince you to attend a school that you know is not for you – you will find yourself unhappy and unsuccessful.

Advice for students during their college search: One of the most important parts of your college search is visiting the campus, that way you can get a true feel for the college and make sure it is the right fit for you! During your visit don’t be afraid to ask questions, you will find it helpful if you have a few prepared ahead of time and it’s best if you keep them consistent from campus to campus so you have something to compare. My final piece of advice during your visit is to relax, be yourself and have fun!

Biography:
Dr. Paola Basile is an assistant professor of Italian and French Studies at Lake Erie College. She has several years of teaching experience at the Université de Montréal, at Concordia University and at the Italian Cultural Institute of Montréal, Canada. She is currently responsible for the Italian Studies program at Lake Erie College as well as for the instruction of French and honors courses. Dr. Basile is currently the advisor for the Italian cultural Club, Il Convivio, and is the vice-president of the Canadian Society for Italian Studies. She is also a member of the American Association of Teachers of Italian, of the Modern Language Association, and of the Italian American Cultural Foundation.
Dr. Basile earned a Laurea di dottore (doctor degree) from La Sapienza - University of Rome (Italy), an M.A. in French Studies from McGill University (Montréal, Canada) and a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from Université de Montréal (the largest francophone university outside of France).
Dr. Basile has authored two books: 1) I folli voli di Ulisse; 2) Battito d’ali, and published several articles in Italian, French & English. She has also translated two books: one written by Bernard Moitessier from French to Italian (Vela, mari lontani, isole e lagune); and one written by Jimmy Cornell from English to Italian (La passione per il mare).

Biography:
Dr. Marie Francosky is an assistant professor of organizational behavior at Lake Erie College, where she is responsible for teaching courses in management studies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Francosky brings a wealth of applied experience to the classroom through her past employment with the IBM Corporation, Travelers Insurance Company and Eastman Kodak Company, along with her work as an independent consultant in the field of human resources and management development. Prior to the College, Francosky served as an adjunct assistant professor of Management Studies at Bowling Green State University and as an instructor at Myers University.
Francosky earned her bachelor of science degree from The Ohio State University and her master of arts and doctoral degrees at Bowling Green State University. She is a member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP), and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). She currently serves as the faculty advisor to the Lake Erie College MBA Student Association. |

Biography:
Dr. James Eisenberg is a professor of psychology, director of the Criminal Justice Program, and the associate dean for arts and sciences at Lake Erie College. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Psychology and serves on their Board of Directors. He has been with the College since 1977. For nearly twenty years he was the associate director and forensic psychologist with the Lake County Forensic Psychiatric Clinic that served the Lake County Court of Common Pleas.

Eisenberg earned his B.A. in chemistry from Washington and Jefferson College and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the New School for Social Research in New York City. He is licensed by the Ohio State Board of Psychology, is a fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Psychology and is a member of the American Psychological Association and Ohio Psychological Association.
Eisenberg has been called as an expert witness in hundreds of criminal and civil cases. He authored the book, Law, Psychology, and Death Penalty Litigation in 2004 and has worked on over 200 capital cases. On several occasions he has been invited to speak to the National Congress of Honduras and to the Supreme Court of Honduras. He has various other publications and has presented workshops across the country.
In 2004, he received both the Northeast Ohio Council of Higher Education. (NOCHE) Award for Teaching Excellence and the Excellence in Teaching Award from Lake Erie College.
When Eisenberg is not teaching or testifying, he can be found playing the five-string banjo or riding his bike.

Biography:
Joanne Gurley is an associate professor of legal studies at Lake Erie College. She is responsible for teaching business law at the undergraduate and graduate level, international business law and various classes within the legal studies program.
Gurley is a graduate of Bowling Green State University and Cleveland Marshall College of Law. She continues to be active in the local legal community and serves as chair of the Lake County Bar Association’s Character and Fitness Committee. She continues her Continuing Legal Education (CLE) requirements and is an active member of the American Association for Paralegal Education and the Academy of Legal Studies in Business. She has helped secure grants from the IRS and facilitated tax clinics to assist local Hispanics. She has been a full-time faculty member at the College and director of the legal studies program for 16 years.

Biography:
Darlene Hall is an associate professor of history at Lake Erie College and has been in the history department since 2001. Previous to her position at the College, she was an adjunct instructor of history at The Pennsylvania State University.
Some of the courses she has taught include: American, European and World histories, renaissance and reformation, ancient mediterranean, medieval Britain and women’s history, as well as geography, critical thinking, introduction to philosophy, issues in western culture, social issues and American and international political science.
Hall earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Edinburgh University in Penn., a master of arts degree in European history and a doctoral degree in British history from The Pennsylvania State University.
She has completed 24 book reviews for the academic journals Scotia and Albion and for the online academic journal "Choice," on subjects from Roman Britain through 18th century Britain, including medieval studies, European maritime and naval studies.

Dr. Hasan is a professor of business administration at Lake Erie College. He is responsible for teaching courses in economics and finance and advising students in the business program. He previously served as the College’s interim associate dean of management studies.
Prior to his work at Lake Erie College, he served as assistant professor of economics at the University of Rajshahn, Bangladesh and a visiting instructor in the Department of Finance at the University of Akron.

Donna Bares works as an administrative assistant in the management studies division, assisting faculty as well as MBA and undergraduate students. Her previous experience has been in the area of student activities, both at a community and residential college. She has facilitated training programs, both for local businesses (AchieveGlobal, DDI), as well as for students (Choices Alcohol Awareness, Understanding Diversity). Bares has also served on diversity and leadership teams, as an advisor for a high school youth group and as a youth softball coach.
Bares received her bachelor of business administration degree from Cleveland State University, with a concentration in management and labor relations. She is currently pursuing her master of science degree in continuing education with a concentration in counseling and psychology through the University of West Alabama.

Biography:
Dr. Mary K. McManamon is a professor of marketing and has taught in the management studies division of the College since 1993. In the undergraduate program, she teaches marketing courses, as well as international business. At the graduate level, she teaches marketing, business process management and corporate responsibility/issues management.
McManamon’s areas of special expertise are marketing research, advertising, and business process management. She received her B.A. in English from Notre Dame College. She worked at The Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper for 13 years, holding positions primarily in the advertising department. She earned her master of business administration degree from Cleveland State University, with a major in marketing and a minor in finance. After leaving The Plain Dealer, she and several colleagues started a telecommunications products and services business.
Fulfilling a long-time dream, she enrolled in a doctorate program at Cleveland State University. In addition to studying for the degree and teaching part time, she worked as a marketing research consultant for a number of Northeast Ohio health care organizations. She earned her D.B.A. in 1997 with a major in marketing and a minor in management and labor relations.

Biography:
Dr. Kim McQuaid is a professor of history and has been a part of the history department at Lake Erie College since 1977. Previous to coming to the College, he was a lecturer at Antioch Graduate School of Education and an assistant professor of history at NorthwesternUniversity.
McQuaid earned a bachelor of arts degree in history from Antioch College and a master of arts degree and doctoral degree from American History from Northwestern University. From 1995-1996, he was the Fulbright Visiting Professor of U.S. History at the University of Science Malaysia, Penang, Malaysia. From 1989-90, he was the visiting associate professor of U.S. History at ClaremontGraduateSchool in Claremont, Calif. From 1985-86, he was the Mary Ball Washington Visiting Professor of U.S. History at the University College Dublin, The National University of Ireland. In 1971, he was earned the title of Northwestern University Fellow and received the Hearst Fellowship. In 1970, he received the Woodrow Wilson Fellowship.
He has published several books and many articles on the subjects of space explorations, social security and big business to name a few. He has worked as a psychiatric social worker in Harlem, an instructor of arts and crafts to mentally challenged and emotionally disturbed children at state mental hospitals and as an antiquarian bookseller in Maine and an illustrator in Berkeley, Calif.
McQuaid has also been interviewed by newspapers and radio stations including The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, Forbes Magazine and The National Public Radio affiliates regarding matters of economic policy, business-government relations and foreign policy. |

Dr. Pipino is an assistant professor of English at Lake Erie College where she is responsible for teaching both English and general education courses and is the area chair for communications, literature, and modern languages and cultures.
Dr. Pipino earned her B.A. and M.A. from John Carroll University and her Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati. Prior to her work at Lake Erie College, she served as an instructor of English at Xavier University in Cincinnati.
Dr. Pipino is a member of the Society for the Study of Ethnic Literature of the U.S. (MELUS) and the Modern Language Association (MLA). She has also authored the book “I Have Found My Voice: The Italian-American Woman Writer” (Peter Lang 2000) and various articles on ethnic literature, pedagogy, and Italian-American literature. |

Biography:
Nancy Prudic is associate professor of visual arts at Lake Erie College and has worked at the Cleveland Museum of Art in the Department of Education and Public Programming for eighteen years. She earned her bachelor of fine arts from the Cleveland Institute of Art and her master's of fine arts from Vermont College.
She lives in Cleveland and has exhibited in local, regional, and national venues including the Lincoln Center in NYC, Three Rivers Arts Festival in Pittsburgh, and the Cleveland Museum of Art. She was a finalist for the Northern Ohio Live Award in Excellence in Visual Art for “48 Hours of Making Art”. Recently she had a solo exhibition at Brandt Gallery, participated in the Festival of Lights at the Cleveland Museum of Art, and traveled to China and Thailand where she completed an artist residency at the Thai-Chinese International Institute in Bangkok. She has also worked collaboratively with choreographer Lisa DeCato on a project for the 7th Annual Food For Thought, a community dance incubator. |

Biography:
Professor Eileen Roberts, often referred to by her nickname “Bud”, is assistant professor of equine studies at Lake Erie College. She has trained and coached riders in hunters and jumpers as well as eventing and brings a strong BHS and Pony Club foundation to her coursework.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree as a teacher trainer at Lake Erie College in its first four-year graduating equestrian studies class and recently completed her Master of Business Administration degree at Lake Erie College.
Professor Roberts is also certified as an assistant instructor with the British Horse Society and traveled overseas as part of the study abroad program. She previously served the College on the Board of Trustees, chairing the Enrollment Management Committee, was a member of the Technology Committee and Ad Hoc Compensation Committee.
Prior to her work at Lake Erie College, Eileen was the owner and president of North Coast Recruiting, Inc., was named to the Who’s who among executive females and recently named to Biltmore's Who's Who. She is a member of USEF, USAE, the Ohio Professional Horseman’s Association, and is a former chair of the National Personnel Associates. She advises the newly-formed Laddie Legacy Club and coaches the jumping Prix de Villes team.

Biography:
John Stewart is an instructor of information systems and management science at Lake Erie College. He spent his early career as an environmental chemist and consultant with companies that included waste management and hydro research services. An interest in quantitative analysis and decision-making in organizations naturally led him to research and consulting in the area of management science.
Stewart has a bachelor of arts degree from California State University, Penn., a master of business administration degree from Lake Erie College and a master of science in management information systems from the University of Akron. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in computing at Pace University. His graduate teaching responsibly include: Information systems, management science models and creativity and innovation. His undergraduate areas of teaching specialization include business statistics, applied decision models, management information systems and business computer applications.
Stewart is a member of the Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), the Association for
Information Systems (AIS), the Association of Information Technology Professionals, the Institute for
Operations Research & Management Sciences (INFORMS) and the IEEE Computer Society. In
addition to serving on several committees, he is also a faculty advisor to Students in Free Enterprise
and a member of the Center for Entrepreneurship Steering Committee.

Biography:
Robert Trebar has been the dean of management studies at Lake Erie College since 2004. During this time, the College has established four new business majors, tripled the size of the MBA program and launched major new initiatives in the areas of business education for non-traditional students and corporate-based programs.
Prior to joining the College, Trebar was part of the start-up team of the medical device company, Biomec, Inc., as senior vice president of marketing and sales. From 1995 to 2001, he served as vice president of marketing and vice president of business development for Philips Medical Systems N.V. (the Netherlands), formerly Marconi Medical Systems and Picker International, Inc.
He has also held a number of leadership and staff positions with Brush Wellman, Inc. and British Petroleum Ltd. Trebar serves on the board of directors of two bio-technology ventures and has spoken and consulted globally on the subject of the commercialization of new medical technology. He periodically appears before review panels of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the U.S. House of Representatives’ Sub-committee on Health on the subject of the marketing of medical products and pharmaceuticals.
Trebar has been an adjunct professor at a number of Ohio colleges and is a graduate of John Carroll University and Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management. He was honored as the recipient of the 2007 Distinguished Marketing and Sales Executive of the Year Award provided by the Sales & Marketing Executives of Cleveland group. He is only the second educator in the award’s 46-year history to receive this honor. In 2006, Trebar created a proposal that secured a $1.3 million grant from the Burton D. Morgan and Ewing Kauffman Foundations to establish a Center for Entrepreneurial Studies at Lake Erie College.

Biography:
Tabrina Smith is an assistant professor of mathematics. Prior to joining Lake Erie College, she taught at Kent State University where she subsequently received her doctoral degree in mathematics. During her graduate studies, she served two years as an Ohio Board of Regents fellow.
She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, Nu of Ohio, as well as Pi Mu Epsilon, Association of Women in Mathematics, American Mathematical Society and Mathematical Association of America. While teaching is her number one focus, her research interests are in the field of functional analysis. Specifically, she has worked on many problems in both operator theory and the geometry of Banach spaces.

Dr. Deborah Schulman is an assistant professor of biology. She did her undergraduate work at SUNY at Buffalo, earning a bachelor of science degree in biology. She completed her Ph.D. thesis work in molecular biology at Case Western Reserve University. She did post-doctoral work in cell and molecular biology at Cleveland State University and at Metro Health Hospital's Rammelkamp Center. Her research focused on RNA polymerase III transcription, differentiation and apoptosis of mammalian muscle cells and the transcriptional control of development in C. elegans, a nematode worm.
Before joining the full time faculty at Lake Erie College, Dr. Schulman taught at Cleveland State University, John Carroll University, and Cuyahoga Community College. Quality teaching is her main interest. |

Dr. Michael Rouse is an assistant professor of economics and finance at Lake Erie College. His teaching responsibilities include introductory to advanced courses in finance and economics at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
Prior to joining the Lake Erie faculty, Rouse held a variety of academic positions and has more than 20 years of teaching experience. He has also been active in consulting companies on numerous issues of a finance nature, allowing him to bring a “real-world” dimension to his classes.
Rouse earned his doctoral degree at Boston University. His research interests are in the areas of corporate finance and investments. |

Biography:
Dr. Stephen Yachanin is a professor of psychology at Lake Erie College. He first joined the College in 1982 and also held the position of director of institutional assessment from 1994-1999. He has been the faculty advisor for the Psychology Club and for the Lake Erie College Chapter of Psi Chi – The National Honor Society in Psychology for 25 years.
Previous to his position at the College, he was a University Doctoral Fellow in the department of psychology at Bowling Green State University and a researcher for the U.S. Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences in Alexandria, Va.
Yachanin earned his bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Baldwin-Wallace College, master of arts degree and doctoral degree in experimental psychology from Bowling Green State University.

Professor Julie Ziemak is an assistant professor of accounting at Lake Erie College. She is responsible for teaching accounting, tax and financial literacy, as well as facilitating tax clinics assisting local Hispanic taxpayers where English is a second language. In 2003, she received the Excellence in Teaching Award.
Prior to her work at the College, Ziemak worked at Ernst & Young both in the audit and tax departments. After leaving Ernst & Young, she started an in-house tax department for a pharmaceutical wholesaler. Her most recent professional experience was with a diversified business-to-business media company.
Ziemak earned her master of business administration degree from Kent State University and is a certified public accountant. She strongly believes that an accounting degree earned at a liberal arts college best prepares students to become immediately involved with the complex nature of accounting/business encountered in today’s global environment. An accounting degree from Lake Erie College accomplishes this with the many opportunities to develop and learn both in and outside the classroom.

After graduating from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Giedt worked in a mixed practice in North Carolina. Upon Returning to Ohio she started her own general large animal practice where she provided medical, surgical and reproductive care to horses, cattle, sheep and goats at area farms.
After many years of running her own practice, Dr. Giedt was invited to join Lake Erie College as an Assistant Professor of Equine Studies. Her focus was teaching Equine Health, Nutrition, Breeding, and Lameness.
In 1993 Dr. Giedt returned to private practice to pursue a career at Equine Specialty Hospital, a renowned 24-hour emergency equine hospital located in Mantua, Ohio, which specializes in advanced medical and surgical care for horses. After two years of 24-7 equine practice, Dr. Giedt returned to Lake Erie College as an assistant professor.
In 2002 she received tenure and promotion to Associate professor. In 2006 Dr. Giedt was the recipient of the Excellence in Teaching Award at Lake Erie College.
Dr. Giedt is involved with the Travel Abroad programs at Lake Erie College and has visited Sweden, France, The Netherlands, Scotland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland and most recently China with Lake Erie College Students.
She continues to provide medical care to the college owned horses, which facilitates numerous teaching/learning opportunities for students.

Dr. Jennifer Swartz is an assistant professor of English and communications at Lake Erie College. She is also the director of the writing center. Her previous position was an assistant English professor at Kent State University, Salem campus and she has also taught at Case Western Reserve University.
Swartz was named the 2004 and 2005 Club Advisor of the Year for advising the Student Leadership Association and the Honors Club at Kent State University, Salem campus. She was also the recipient of a 2004 NTT Performance Based Bonus Award. She is a member of the Modern Language Association, Northeast Modern Language Association and the F. Scott Fitzgerald Society

Already a veteran on the LEC coaching staff, Lauren Ferullo enters her fifth year as head coach of the college’s women’s soccer team. She also served as head coach of softball for two seasons and currently serves as an assistant in that sport. Ferullo is also the department’s Senior Women’s Administrator while serving as business manager for athletics. Previously, she spent time in her home state of Massachusetts as an assistant coach of basketball and soccer at Endicott College as well as an assistant soccer coach at Northern Essex Community College. A 1998 product of Colby-Sawyer College in New Hampshire, Ferullo starred on both the soccer and lacrosse teams there. |

Cami Harkless is coordinator for equine health and performance for the Lake Erie College Equestrian Center.
Cami is pictured here with her 28-year-old arab/qh mare Cascade’s Natashi, a.k.a. “Toshi.”
As herd manager, Cami brings 17 years experience to the program. She is responsible for the overall management of Lake Erie College’s school horses, providing structure for a wide range of students and horses.
Some of her challenges include veterinary assistance, nutritional care, record keeping, teaching and supervising interns. She also provides individual guidance to students completing hands-on assignments in the barn, such as medicating horses, wrapping and tack fitting.
Experience:
Cami is a 1990 graduate of Lake Erie College, holding a degree in equine studies. During her undergraduate work, Cami spent a semester at Patchett’s Equestrian Center in England, obtaining her Riding and Road Safety Certificate as part of the BHSAI teaching certification program. Upon graduation, Cami obtained work at a hunter/jumper facility, managing the operation in the owner’s absence and sometimes traveling to local shows. Cami continued working in a variety of aspects of the equine industry, such as assisting with the breaking of young horses and teaching lower-level riding. She also spent time working at an Arabian breeding facility.
After several years, Cami returned to her alma mater where she became the barn manger in 1999, and herd manger in 2000. In 2005, she completed her MBA at Lake Erie College and continues to provide her services as herd manager. Cami also co-teaches the Horse Care Practicum class, and occasionally will teach the Balanced Seat I riding class. In order to accommodate the growing needs of Lake Erie’s expanding equine program, she has served as project manager of several endeavors such as re-designing tack rooms, storage areas and office space.

Bryan Harmon is the head men's and women's track and cross country coach. Hailing from nearby Mentor, Ohio, Harmon had a solid collegiate running career at Tiffin University, where he graduated in 2004. He earned a total of seven varsity letters in cross country and track at Tiffin, earning the Most Improved Runner award for the 2002 season.

Long-time area golf pro Milt Johnson is in his third season in charge of the links at Lake Erie. He is currently in his 14th year as the head pro at Fairway Pines Golf Club, which is the home course for the Storm golfers. A member of the PGA since 1981, Johnson worked as the assistant pro at Quail Hollow, Shady Hollow and the Kirtland Country Club prior to taking over the course operations at Fairway Pines. Dale Sheptak is an instructor of sports management and management studies at Lake Erie College. Prior to joining the management studies faculty, he served in the roles of executive director of the center for leadership and professional development and associate director of athletics at the College.
Sheptak earned a diploma in training and development and a master of science degree in training and development and human resource management from the University of Leicester, England, where he is currently pursuing a doctoral degree in social sciences with a concentration in global human resource management in sports. Sheptak is an active member of the International Society for Performance Improvement, the American Society for Training and Development, the Society for Human Resource Management and the North American Society for Sports Management.
Sheptak has more than 14 years of training and human resources experience, both as a consultant and as a practitioner, holding positions with a major consultancy firm in Northeast Ohio and management positions with a major national retailer, an international software development start-up and a multi-national banking corporation. He brings a wealth of knowledge in the sports industry with 10 years of experience in the start-up and administration of sports-related business. |

Biography:
In the dual coaching role of women’s volleyball and softball at LEC is Gary VanCauwenberge. Just 26-years old, he is already in his third year as a collegiate head coach. VanCauwenberge came to Lake Erie from Amherst College, where he was an assistant coach in both sports for two seasons. He also spent one of those years as an assistant women’s squash coach at Mt. Holyoke College. He earned his undergraduate degree from Ohio Wesleyan University, where he captained the men’s club volleyball team and also spent time as a member of the varsity baseball squad. He was named co-Coach of the Year for softball in the AMCC in 2004. |

Biography:
Dr. Susan Culotta is an assistant professor of psychology and sociology at Lake Erie College. She instructs classes in general psychology, sociology and methods of field research, among others. She is also the director of the Lake Erie College Scholars program.
Culotta’s previous work was in the field of social services, as a psychotherapist and a child protective services supervisor and field worker. Culotta earned her bachelor of arts degree from Kenyon College, master of arts degree from John Carroll University and doctoral degree from Cleveland State University.

Biography:
Dr. Johnson is an assistant professor of biology at Lake Erie College where he teaches a variety of introductory and upper division biology courses and physical geology. He is an ecologist and aquatic entomologist with broad interests in the sciences that include mammalian evolution, physical anthropology, and geology.
Dr. Johnson earned his B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown, M.S. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and Ph.D. from the University of North Texas. His research includes the studies of stream macroinvertebrate distribution, secondary production, community structure, and recovery from disturbance events. |

Biography:
Joe Morgan is the head men's and women's tennis coach. Morgan is the tennis director at the Mentor Heisley Racquet & Fitness Club - a position he's held since 2005. He previously served as the tennis professional with C.A.R., Inc., as well as with the Chagrin Valley Country Club and the Chagrin Valley Athletic Country Club.
Not only does Morgan have almost 20 years experience instructing as a professional, but he's also been a coach at the high school level since 1980, most recently as the Mentor High School varsity girls' coach. He also spent time as a head coach at Gilmour Academy (1992-96) with the girls and boys, Magnificat High School (1988-89) with the girls and his alma mater, St. Joseph High School (1980-87) with the boys' program.
Morgan attended nearby Lakeland Community College, as well as Miami University. He is a member of USPTA. |

Peter Lee is the special assistant for academic affairs and the curriculum and program development for the education department at Lake Erie College. Lee has a long career in education. He has served as Principal at Iditarod School in Shageluk, Alaska, as Science Department Chair at Berkshire School in Burton, Ohio and as Physics Department Chair and Director Frost Observatory at Western Reserve Academy in Hudson, Ohio.
Peter and his wife, Dodie, are the parents of three children, Brian, Keith and Jeanne. The enjoy living on the shore of Lake Erie with their dogs, Ben, Hogan, Katie and Leo. |

Biography:
Professor Mary Pardee is executive director of riding and performance area at Lake Erie College.
Mary Pardee has had over 20 years of experience as a teacher and trainer, specializing in hunters and equitation. Her students have competed successfully at such shows as the Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, Florida, Capital Challenge, USEF Pony Finals, IHSA National Finals, Biltmore, Upperville, Lexington in Kentucky and Virginia and many others.
Although her expertise is in hunters, Mary has also prepped thoroughbred sales horses in the United States and England, has taught and trained in Ireland and has experience with polo and driving.
Mary believes in a classical approach to riding, teaching strong basics in dressage as well as jumping. Her goal is to create a “thinking rider” who develops a partnership with their horse. She has trained at facilities in Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Seattle, Washington and Virginia. Mary received her B.A. in English from the University of Kentucky, a secondary English teaching certification from Cleveland State University and is currently working on her Master degree in Education at Lake Erie College.

Biography:
Griz is the Director of Athletics at Lake Erie College.
With 23 years of experience in athletics, Zimmermann has performed every task
from designing and implementing workout programs to leading compliance of NCAA
rules. He served as a fitness center director and strength and conditioning
coach before taking the position of assistant athletic director at Southern
Methodist University for seven years. Most recently he served as director of
athletics at both Gannon University and Saginaw Valley State University.
Zimmermann’s first priority for Storm athletics will be the welfare of
student-athletes, both for the immediate as well as the long term. He also has
experience in coordinating fundraising events and drawing alumni support.
A former athlete himself, Zimmermann played football for the University of
Michigan under CoachGlenn “Bo” Schembechler, where he earned both a bachelor of
science degree in physical education and a master of science degree in exercise
physiology.
Previously serving in the United States Navy, Zimmerman is a native of St.
Louis, Miss., and has four children, Sydney (14), Matthew (12), Harper (8) and
Paden (6).

Biography:
Sharma has over fifteen years of teaching experience that she had gained in various countries throughout the world. Through her education and work experience, she has integrated technology skills and has developed useful teaching strategies to accelerate the understanding of her students and to boost their results.
She holds bachelor of arts and bachelor of education degrees, and was valedictorian of her class at Jodhpur University in India while earning her Master of Arts degree. She also earned a doctorate in English literature from Jai Narain Vyas University in India
Sharma has published numerous articles and works of poetry, online as well as in magazines of international repute. She was a semifinalist in the 1993 North American Poetry contest and received the Editor’s Choice Award. Sharma is an active member of the Toni Morrison Society, Cambridge’s Who’s Who, American Studies Research Center, National Council of English Teachers and the American Management Association.

Biography:
Greg Stocks is the head men's lacrosse coach. He is a 2006 graduate of Mercyhurst College with a bachelor's degree in business. Upon graduation he served as an assistant at Lycoming College where he was instrumental in the Warrior's offensive game planning. He also served as an assistant for one season at Division II No. 10 Wingate University where the Bulldogs went 11-4 overall and 3-1 in the Deep South Conference in 2007.
The native of Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada played lacrosse at SUNY-Potsdam for two years and then at Mercyhurst for two years. As an attacker his senior season, the team won the East Coast Conference (ECC) and was a national semifinalist.

Biography:
Nicole Jewell is the assistant athletic trainer. Jewell’s main sports will be volleyball, men’s and women’s soccer, cross country, women’s basketball and baseball. She holds a bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Capital University and is pursuing a master’s degree in education with a concentration in athletic training from Old Dominion University.
Prior to her arrival at Lake Erie, she was an athletic training graduate assistant for Norfolk State University for two years, where she was responsible for softball and volleyball, in addition to assisting with football and indoor and outdoor track. Jewell also provided coverage for several AAU events and various summer camps held by Ohio State University.

Dr. Thomas Davis is an associate professor of political science at Lake Erie College. Prior to his position at the College, he was an associate professor at Cameron University in Lawton, Okla.
Davis earned his bachelor of science degree in political science from the University of Akron and his master of arts degree and doctoral degree in political science from Kent State University. He is a member of the American Political Science Association, the International Studies Association and the International Society of Political Psychology. His areas of specialization are ethnicity and nationalism, Irish politics and European politics. |

Dr. Jennifer Collis is the associate dean of academic affairs at Lake Erie College. Her previous positions were as the director of the office of student and alumni services and senior assistant dean at The Ohio State University.
Collis has also worked as a mental health counselor, as well as an instructor at The Ohio State University and a lecturer at the University of Connecticut.
She earned her bachelor of science degree in psychology from The Ohio State University, master’s of education degree in counseling from Springfield College in Springfield, Mass., and her doctoral degree in higher education administration with a concentration in counseling from the University of Connecticut.

Biography:
Patricia Zappitelli became the department of athletics’ administrative assistant in February 2008 and is the first person to ever hold such a position. Her responsibilities include overseeing the daily office functions of the department.
Prior to arriving at Lake Erie, she was an office manager at a local business. Zappitelli previously spent eight years within the sales industry, concentrating on the local region.
She also has nine years of experience as a travel agent, utilizing her educational background in which she earned an associate’s degree of applied business in travel and tourism and an associate of arts in business from Lakeland Community College. Additionally, she became a certified travel consultant within the State of Ohio. |
