Tomorrows Teachers

Organization News
By Allison Green
Tomorrow’s Teachers is a student organization dedicated to the professional development of Lake Erie College’s pre-service teachers and teacher candidates. Our goal is to supplement the topics being taught in the Education Department classes by introducing guest speakers, providing hands-on opportunities and helping to make real-life connections outside of the classroom.
Throughout the year, we hold monthly meetings that provide an opportunity to meet and discuss issues, concerns and topics in an open setting. Past subjects have included portfolio organization, differentiation for the advanced student and a mini-workshop on using the SMART Board. We are working on sessions to help you prepare for your interview as well as taking the PRAXIS exams. We will also gladly investigate any topic, guest speaker or project that Lake Erie pre-service teachers and teacher candidates suggest.
The cost for membership in Tomorrow’s Teachers is only five dollars per semester. This is used to cover the expenses for food and beverages. By attending two meetings each semester, you will receive a Tomorrow’s Teachers certificate as proof of professional development, which makes a great addition to your portfolio and eventually your resume.
Join us as we strive to make a name for Lake Erie College in the professional world of education by graduating the best teachers in Lake County and Ohio.
