Curriculum
Lake Erie College strives to thread entrepreneurship into all of its academic programs. The College also currently offers two formal options for entrepreneurial studies, the minor in Entrepreneurial Studies and the major in Equine Entrepreneurship.
Entrepreneurial Studies (Minor)
Will provide the opportunity for students from any major to develop the skills and experiences that will facilitate the students efforts in transforming ideas into enterprises that create value. A specific set of knowledge and experiences in the areas of planning, risk-taking, market analysis, problem-solving, and creativity are included in the minor.
Equine Entrepreneurship (Major) - Bachelor of Science
The equine entrepreneurship degree program is a multi-disciplinary approach focusing on the core business management and equine studies courses required to be a successful entrepreneur in the equine industry. This particular program will unite strong business acumen with equine knowledge base and skills that are essential to the success of all equine ventures. Lake Erie College is the first in the nation to offer this major. Students will gain an understanding of the scope of the equine industry and its economical value to society. Students will also obtain the management skills necessary for a successful venture development in the equine industry. Furthermore, the program includes a consulting experience with equine business ventures and experience in the development of a business plan for a start-up equine venture. Equine health care and prevention is also explored within the new major.
