Exeptions: During horse show days the barn/arena will be open for 1 hour following the last class of the day. The main arena may be closed in preparation for the show the following day.
The Equestrian Center offers van service scheduled for class times only. Students will need other transportation arrangements during any scheduled breaks (Fall, Christmas and Spring breaks) and after 5:00 pm or whenever the last scheduled class at the Center is over.
The Lake Erie College farrier is at the Center every Monday and Thursday and the veterinarian is there at least once a week. Dr. Giedt is available 5 days a week.
Health Insurance Requirement:
All equestrian students are required to carry their own health insurance. If you are not covered under your parent's insurance plan, Lake Erie College recommends using Anthem because this company offers short term insurance for one individual. Students are not permitted to ride or perform any work in the barns until proof of insurance is on file. A copy of your insurance card must be on file in the Equestrian Center Office.
Tack Lockers:
Non-boarding equestrians will be issued lockers on a first come, first served basis in the school horse barn. Horse boarding students will be assigned a locker in the boarder barn. Each student boarder receives one locker per horse boarded. There is a charge for the rental of a 2nd locker, if available. Tack trunks are not permitted in the tack room or aisle area in either bam; they must be stored in the hayloft.
