Equipment List
Students are allowed to bring any equipment they would like to use during riding activity classes, horse shows, events, etc. A locker in a secured student tack room is available for housing such equipment if the student wants to leave it at the Equestrian Center. Preference will be given to students enrolled in riding classes if space is limited. Boarders are limited to ONE locker. If space permits, an additional tack locker may be obtained for a fee. All equipment must be clearly marked with the owner's name. The Equestrian Center administration and LEC faculty are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
Equipment that a student may consider bringing is listed below:
- Saddle
- Bridle - must provide own instructor approved bit for school horse. Many students prefer using their own bridles when competing on an LEC horse.
- Grooming equipment - highly recommended for all Equine Studies majors. Required for EQ110 Horse care Practicum (refer to specific list).
- Whips and/or crops; blunt spurs - highly recommended. Spurs are NOT to be worn except with instructor permission.
NOTE: BOARDERS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO USE LEC TACK OR EQUIPMENT ON THEIR OWN HORSES OR KEEP ANY LEC TACK OR EQUIPMENT IN THEIR LOCKERS FOR USE ON SCHOOL HORSES UNLESS IT HAS BEEN SIGNED OUT FOR A HORSE SHOW, FOLLOWING POLICIES AS SET FORTH REGARDING EQUIPMENT/TACK SIGN OUT. Tack found in student lockers is considered to have been stolen and student will be treated accordingly. |
