Riding Evaluations for Incoming Freshmen and Transfer Students

2009 Evaluations Dates:
The riding evaluations will take place on (Monday, June 8; Friday June 26), which are the dates before new on-campus student orientations. You may attend either of the dates.
Purpose of the Evaluation:
The riding evaluation is an opportunity to assess the riding level of the incoming freshmen and transfer students for placement into an appropriate riding class for the fall semester. The evaluation will consist of students warming up and riding Lake Erie College school horses for approximately 20-30 minutes in front of 3 riding instructors. Students who have jumping experience will have the opportunity to jump several fences as part of their evaluation. Additionally, this is a key component of the safety process. It allows riders to be placed in their appropriate level based upon skills.
What to Expect:
We require the students to be in proper riding attire: tall boots or leather half-chaps with paddock boots, breeches, neatly fitted shirt with sleeves, ASTM approved riding helmet and riding gloves. It is also recommended that you bring a riding crop or dressage whip. The school horses will be tacked up and waiting for you.
For those who cannot attend:
For new students who cannot attend the riding evaluation dates, riding evaluations will be provided during the freshman orientation week of fall semester.
