Steven Gutierrez, MFA
Artist/Engineer/Teacher
Professor Gutierrez holds a B.S. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Cornell University, and an MFA in Art & Technology from The Ohio State University. He studied with Ken Rinaldo, Amy Youngs and Todd Slaughter where he learned to apply his work to more public spaces.
Most recently, he developed the Integrated Media, Digital Art & Technology (IMDAT) major at Lake Erie College.
Professor Gutierrez continues to work in the intersection of Art, Technology and the Environment. His current artwork focuses on human interdependence with nature and explores the possibility of a more beneficial symbiotic relationship. "As an engineer, I feel that technology and interdisciplinary work will play a big part in achieving this balance. As an artist, I feel that we must look at nature for the answers. Thus, my artwork is usually inspired by biological systems, and attempts to demonstrate the beauty within the unseen processes."
