Summer Programs

The summer programs, often called the study tours, are for everyone!  It isn’t an either/or between the semester program and the summer program; we encourage you to do both!  The summer programs include:

•A semester of classroom instruction at Lake Erie College the semester prior to departure.  The class counts for 4 college credits.

•This semester culminates with a trip abroad, usually lasting 10 to 14 days.  The trip is led by two professors, who are also responsible for teaching the course.

•Destinations vary by year; recent trips have included the UK, Greece, Scotland, China, Eastern Europe, and even more exotic destinations such as the Galapagos Islands!

• Details for upcoming programs will be posted when available.

While you are eligible for the semester programs upon registering at Lake Erie, to be eligible for the summer programs you must:

•Have completed 5 consecutive semesters at Lake Erie before departure (4 for transfer students).

•Have a GPA of at least 2.5.

•Be in good standing with the college in general.

The best part?  Lake Erie College pays for the bulk of your trip!  If you fulfill the conditions as stated above, you are eligible for a stipend to cover the costs of the study tour.  Quite often, this stipend covers the cost of the whole trip!  Even when it doesn’t, the co-payment is minimal, and the trip is still a fantastic experience and a great deal!
