Two bibliographic databases covering Africana periodical literature (the Bibliography of Africana Periodical Literature Database and the African Women's Database). Children's Picture Book Database
This database offers abstracts of over 5,000 children's picture books (preschool to grade three) for those who design interdisciplinary curricula for elementary schools and library programs.

Choice Reviews Online

This resource page is full of links to information about electronic journals in the health sciences discipline. They include an explanation of ejournals; directories of ejournals; directories of publishers and vendors; copyright; etc. Many of the journals referenced offer free online access. 

eNature
A searchable database for identifying more than 5,000 plant and animal species of North America. 

The English Server
Publishes the text of over 35,000 humanities publications online. (Organized by topic.)   

EPA: National Environmental Publications Information
You can search in over 12,000 publications in the EPA's NEPI database.

EpistemeLinks.com: Philosophy Resources on the Internet

This database supplies "over 2,000 links to electronic texts by famous philosophers throughout history." 

ERIC Database
Click on ERIC Search to perform a simple search, advanced search or expert search for citations and abstracts to articles from 1966-Present.

ERSYS
Look up a city or state and get information on age, education, demographics, and more in one simple search.

Ethnologue
A large database containing information on languages in the forms of bibliography, maps, and computer resources.

Explore Shakespeare with Google
Find the full text of every play through either a simple keyword or provided topic (comedy, tragedy, etc.) search.

FIRST: Facts on International Relations and Security Trends
For politicians, journalists, and the general public, this site "contains clearly documented information from research institutes around the world" relating to international relations.

The main objective of this site is to expand educators' access to Internet-based lesson plans, curriculum units, and other educational materials by improving the organization of the large number of uncataloged collections of materials available on various federal, state, university, nonprofit, and commercial Internet sites.

Geostat Center: Historical Census Browser
Search by year to find historical statistical data on people, counties, states and economy between 1790 and 1960. 

GLOPAD (Global Performing Arts Database)
Over 4,500 objects are included from around the world, including authoritative, detailed, multilingual descriptions of digital images, texts, video clips, sound recordings, and complex media objects.

International Database
Contains statistical tables of demographic and socio-economic data for 227 countries and areas of the world.

International Economics Statistics Database (IES)
Contains international economic indicators, such as GDP and CPI, searchable by title, country, subject and keyword.

InfoTrac Web

This is Lincoln Library's database of full-text journal articles, searchable by keyword, subject, title, journal, author, etc. Contact the library for password information. InfoTrac includes the following specialized collections: Expanded Academic ASAP; Business & Company Resource Center; Biography Resource Center; and Literature Resource Center.

The Internet Broadway Database
"The official archival database for Broadway theatre information...provides records of productions from the beginnings of New York theatre until today." Search by show, people involved (actors, directors, set and costume designers, stage managers, producers, theater owners, etc.), theater, or character. 

Internet Movie Database
An excellent site that compiles filmographies, biographies, photographs, and a search engine for both current and early films.

Library of Congress
From the web site, the Library of Congress is "comprised of approximately 115 million items in virtually all formats, languages, and subjects, and its collections are the single most comprehensive accumulation of human expression ever assembled."

Search Lake Erie College's Lincoln Library collection.

Literature Resource Center (via InfoTrac Web)
Provides access to biographies, bibliographies, and critical analyses of authors from every age and literary discipline, and includes more than 120,000 novelists, poets, essayists, journalists, and other writers. Local TV News Media Project
Contains a searchable database of over 10,600 individually digitized local television news stories from across the US. Each story is viewable full-text.

Looksmart's FindArticles.com
This database of 10 million articles can be searched by keyword, topic, or publication name.

Lortel Archives: The Internet Off-Broadway Database
Provides a catalogue of shows produced Off-Broadway.

Marquis Who's Who on the Web
Features comprehensive profiles on 1.2 million of the most accomplished individuals from all fields of endeavor including: government, business, science and technology, the arts, entertainment, and sports. International in scope.

MedHist

A guide to medical history sites on the web. 

Melvyl
Melvyl is the catalog of the California Digital Library.

Mergent Online
Allows you to access information on more than 10,000 US companies listed on the NYSE, AMEX and NASDAQ exchanges, including access to EDGAR filings back to 1993, as well as a 17,000 non-US public companies. Call the library for password information. 

Metacritic
Provides access to and summarizes the vast amount of entertainment criticism available online and is one of the Web's best resources for critical information about film, video, music, and games.  

Mineralogy Database
Contains over 4,400 individual mineral species descriptions with links.

MLA International Bibliography (see Literature Resource Center via InfoTrac Web)

Movie Review Query Engine
Over 67,000 titles available with references to reviews from sources such as the New York Times, Atlantic Monthly, and Chicago Sun-Times, as well as online review sites.

North American Industry Classification System (NAICS)
NAICS was developed jointly by the US, Canada, and Mexico to provide new comparability in statistics about business activity across North America. It is replacing the SIC system. 

NAL Catalog (AGRICOLA)
Created by the National Agricultural Library, this site is a bibliographic database relating to agricultural literature and includes references to animal and veterinary sciences.

National Academy Press

Read over 3,000 books online for free. NAP publishes over 200 books a year on a wide range of topics in science, engineering, and health, capturing the most authoritative views on important issues in science and health policy. 

National Archives and Records Administration
There is an incredible amount of information contained on this site. The NAIL and GILS search engines allow for visitors to search the entire site for historical records and information (images, sound files, or texts) to view and download. 


National Environmental Directory
A searchable directory of over 13,000 organizations in the US concerned with environmental issues and environmental education.

National Geographic Library

This index contains records describing each NGS magazine article, book, map, video, CD-ROM, and more.  

National Geologic Map Database
Thousands of geological maps are available at this site.


NCES Annuals
Recently unveiled by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), this modest-looking site offers quick and easy access to recent versions of the following: The Condition of Education; The Digest of Education Statistics; Indicators of School Crime and Safety; and the Projections for Education Statistics.

NewsBank, including the New York Times from 1995-Current.

Contains the full text of over 2,100 newspapers from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Asia, including: New York Times; China Daily; Washington Post; Boston Globe, London Times; New York Post;and Cleveland Plain Dealer.

NUPI Centre for Russian Studies Database
A major resource for researchers and students studying contemporary Russia, this site consists of a collection of several searchable databases. More than 1,000 public figures and a searchable chronology with over 2,000 entries are updated almost daily.

Ohio Educational Directory
Obtain demographic information for Ohio School districts. Allows searching by district or building

Allows bibliographic access to other Ohio colleges' materials by title, author, subject, and keyword.

The Occupational Information Network summarizes tasks, skills, knowledge, and abilities of a wide range of occupations.

A searchable database of over 35,000 titles. Options for searching include: title, keyword, subject, publisher, and name.

PLANTS Database
Provides standardized information about the vascular plants, mosses, liverworts, hornworts, and lichens of the U.S. and its territories. It includes names, plant symbols, checklists, distributional data, species abstracts, characteristics, images, plant links, references, crop information, and automated tools.  

Political Database of the Americas
Offers documentary and statistical political information for scholars and politicians studying democracy in Latin America.

Integrates information from a number of databases (nucleotide sequences, protein sequences, macromolecular structures, whole genomes, and MEDLINE) and provides access "to over 14 million citations dating from the 1950's."

Allows users to search five of the most well-known sites dedicated to combating hoaxes and misinformation: Snopes Urban Legends Archive; About.com Urban Legends search; CIAC Hoax Database; CERT Computer Security Database; Symantec; Fraud Watch; and the Anti-Phishing Working Group.

Standard Industrial Classification Search (SIC)

Search by keyword to access descriptive information for a specific SIC. The NAICS is replacing this 1987 code.

Standard & Poor's
This service offers free information in the form of credit ratings, indices, and stock information and is international in scope. Free registration is required for some information; however, you must be a paid subscriber for other information.  

Statistical Abstract of the United States
Contains 30 sections of statistical data including: population, vital statistics, education, elections, energy, transportation, health and nutrition, and much more.

This portal to US government web sites offers users access to all government sites from a single central point.

Voice of America Pronunciation Guide
This site allows the user to find the correct pronunciations of names that are currently in the news. You can search a name alphabetically or regionally, or view the whole list.

This map-driven, searchable database of more than 26,000 species worldwide, allows users to discover where species live or else explore wild places to find out what species live there.

WorldCat

This site will allow you to see books, sound recordings, musical scores, etc. located in libraries across the country (including local libraries). Lake Erie College's holdings ARE NOT included here, so you will also need to check the library's catalog to see if we have it locally before using Interlibrary Loan.

World Factbook

From the CIA, this site gives general information about every country in the world. It also includes information about colonies and unpopulated regions.
