Policy
Library Accounts
Library accounts are automatically set up for
current Lake Erie College students, faculty, and
staff at the beginning of each semester.
Qualified patrons may check out library materials
by providing their names and
presenting ID at
the Circulation Desk.
Checking
out Materials
All items borrowed from the library's circulating
collections are due at the end of the current
semester. This includes: books from the main collection;
Educational Media Center materials; CD recordings,
videotapes and DVD's. Books from the Reference
and Law collections do
not circulate, nor do magazines
and bound periodicals.
EXCEPTION: patrons may check out reserve materials
for use only on the library premises.
Renewing
Materials Students and staff must return the library
items they have borrowed at the end of each semester.
Faculty may renew their library items at
semester's end by emailing a request to the Reference
Librarian, Whitney Harkavy (wharkavy@lec.edu).
Recalling
Items
Lake Erie College students, faculty and staff
may request a recall notice be sent for
items that are currently loaned out. Upon
receipt of the recall notice, the patron
holding the item is expected to return it to the
library.
Returning
Loaned Items
Please return materials to the Circulation Desk
at the front of the library. A book drop
is available outside the library's front entrace
for returning items when the library is closed.
Responsibility
for Borrowed Items
Once a patron borrows an item from the Library,
that patron continues to be responsible for that
item until it is processed back into the collection
by Library staff. The Library does not acknowledge
the transfer of an item from one patron to another.
Fines
The library does not charge overdue fines, but
all loaned items must be returned at the end of
each semester. However, there is a $50 replacement
fee for each lost item.
