The Management Major
Degree Awarded
Bachelor of Arts
The Management major is designed to give students in-depth
exposure to specific areas of management compared to the
more broad-based Business Administration major. The program
builds on the liberal arts foundation all students experience
at Lake Erie College and includes core business administration
courses along with management courses specific to the major.
The program also offers excellent preparation for admission
to graduate school. Students are encouraged to take advantage
of the internship program in order to obtain actual work
experience prior to graduation.
Our Unique Program
- Internship opportunities that provide first hand experience
- Small classes that provide a personalized learning environment
- Strong liberal arts foundation that emphasizes writing,
speaking and research skills
Opportunities in Management
Lake Erie College's management program offers students
an education that will prepare them for careers in almost
any field. Students will be prepared to enter the business
world or non-profit sector in many areas such as human resources
management, labor relations and government relations. Students
will also be prepared to gain entrance to graduate school.
International Experiences
Lake Erie College encourages all students to participate
in international experiences. Students may wish to spend
a semester at one of our "sister" institutions,
earning credits towards their degree while learning about
other peoples and cultures. Other international opportunities
for students are Study Tours. Study Tours are two-week trips
that full-time students may take their Junior or Senior
year. Most of the cost of the trip is included within tuition.
Academic Requirements
A Bachelors degree requires at least 128 credit hours.
All students graduating from Lake Erie College will complete
20 semester hours of basic requirements including courses
in Math, English, Computers, Public Speaking, and Foreign
Language. These courses are normally completed during the
Freshman year.
Students will also complete 24 hours of core liberal arts
courses. These courses include the subject areas of critical
thinking, aesthetic forms, scientific inquiry, cultures
and values, sophisticated texts, and social sciences. Each
major has course specific requirements, and any remaining
credits will be considered as electives.
Requirements of the Management Major
The Management major requires 64 semester hours of course
work in the various areas of business administration (accounting,
economics, management, marketing, finance, business law
and information systems) and required management courses
in the areas of leadership, organizational change and quality
management.
Additionally, every student has an Admissions Counselor
at LEC that can answer questions about our academic programs.
