Lake Erie College Thunder Marching Band Director - Jack Blazey

Jack Blazey has been named the director for the Lake Erie College Thunder marching band. 

Blazey has more than 30 years of teaching experience in the Painesville City Schools where he spent 22 years as a high school/middle school band instructor and eight as the middle school/elementary school band instructor.

As an instructor, Blazey's bands have achieved much success, competing at Ohio Music Educator's Association (O.M.E.A.) state conventions, jazz festivals and state large group competitions. His students have continually received superior ratings at jazz festivals and solo and ensemble competitions.

Blazey is adjudicator for O.M.E.A. Jazz Festivals and Solo and Ensemble contests and currently performs with the Lakeland Civic Jazz orchestra and the Cleveland Orchestra Chorus. He has also conducted many local community bands.

He earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Mount Union College and a master's degree in music education from the University of Akron.
