College Board Extends President Michael Victor's Contract
"We recognize President Victor for his outstanding accomplishments and unwavering dedication to the academic, philanthropic and humanitarian transformation of the College during the first five years of his presidency,” said Carl Grassi, Chairman of the Board of Directors. "The longevity of a president adds to the stability of the organization. He is the right leader at the right time for Lake Erie College and we want him to continue for years to come.”
Since July 1, 2006, President Michael Victor has raised a record $31.3 million from alumni, individuals and foundations; launched new majors; developed the athletics program to include 23 varsity sports including the NCAA transition from a Division III to a Division II school; led the College to record enrollment for five consecutive years; achieved superior national rankings and created international brand awareness. Recognized for his unparalleled accomplishments since becoming the 11th president of Lake Erie College, Michael T. Victor, J.D., was awarded the honorary Doctor of Laws degree in May, 2011 by the Lake Erie College Board of Trustees.
"President Victor has become a recognized leader in the region in the field of independent higher education and business acumen; he has established and engaged the College and its administration with area civic leaders, launched student and community involvement programs, and led campus capital improvements, including the construction of the state-of-the art Austin Hall of Science building and the Learning Center at the George M. Humphrey Equestrian Center,” Grassi said.
Victor, who took office in 2006, served as the dean of the Walker School of Business at Mercyhurst College beginning in 2002 and prior to, was an assistant professor of business and executive-in-residence at Gannon University. Uniquely experienced, he presided as CEO of Pyramid Industries and subsidiaries and served as an attorney in the Corporate Law Department of MacDonald, Illig, Jones & Britton.
Graduating summa cum laude from St. Vincent College, the Ridgway, Pa., native earned his J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law. Victor serves on the board of directors of The Holden Arboretum, United Way of Lake County, Lake National Bank and Gas Natural, Inc.
