Wow - Look At What Our Students Have Accomplished!• During the 2011-12 school year, 80 student-athletes received Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) All-Academic recognition (3.0-3.49 GPA) while 60 were named All-Academic Excellence (3.5 GPA or higher). In two years in the GLIAC, Lake Erie has had a total of 250 student-athletes recognized as All-Academic (137) or All-Academic Excellence (113).
• A successful season on the court by the Lake Erie College women's basketball team in 2011-12 was surpassed off the court as the Storm was recognized on the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll. Lake Erie was ranked third in NCAA Division II with a cumulative team GPA of 3.684. The Storm's team GPA was not only the third highest in Division II, but the fourth best overall. Lake Erie is the highest ranked team in the GLIAC. In 2011-12, the Storm posted a 16-11 overall record and finished fifth in the GLIAC with a 10-9 league mark, qualifying for the conference tournament for the first time.
• The women’s lacrosse team was named an Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Team for the 2012 season. Each year the IWLCA has recognized schools across each NCAA division with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Lake Erie was one of 19 schools in Division II earning Academic Squad honors for the 2012 season. Twelve of the 16 student-athletes posted GPA's higher than 3.0, including seven over 3.5. Current seniors Meredith Howe (Fayetteville, N.Y./Jamesville Dewitt), Julia Kudla (Harleysville, Pa./Souderton) and Allison Trombetti (Lewis Center, Ohio/Olentangy) were among 82 Division II student-athletes nationally included in the 2012 Academic Honor Roll by the IWLCA. The Storm had four players listed, including former student-athlete Aerielle Smith. In each of the previous two seasons, Lake Erie has been named a Merit Squad and has posted the highest team GPA in Division II for both 2010 and 2011.
• For the third consecutive year, the Storm women's track and field team was honored by the United States Track and Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as a Division II All-Academic Team, highlighted by Destiny Prusky (Newton Falls, Ohio/Newton Falls) earning individual All-Academic honors. As a team, the Lake Erie women posted a cumulative GPA of 3.06. Lake Erie was one of 83 NCAA Division II teams to earn the designation, including 11 schools from the GLIAC. Prusky, a current sophomore who is also a member of the volleyball team, competed in the high jump for the Storm and was an NCAA Division II Championships provisional qualifier in the event. To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, student-athletes must have compiled a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and have reached a provisional or automatic qualifying standard for the NCAA Championships in either indoor or outdoor seasons.
