Bob Mastronicola Elected as District Commander of American LegionLake Erie College's Veteran Coordinator Bob Mastronicola was elected as district commander of the 9th District of American Legion of Ohio. The election took place at the district meeting held in May. Mastronicola will lead the district which covers Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Mahoning and Trumbull counties. The 9th District has 45 Area Posts and about 6,500 veterans.
The district commander has the responsibility for providing the link between individuals, posts and department. The department, in turn, provides the link between the districts, and the national office ties the 55 departments together.
Mastronicola has been in the legion for six years: two as a post commander, three as a district officer and now district commander for one year. Following his one year election, he has a good chance to be appointed to a state office in Columbus.
