Rick Leasure '09 Playing Professional Basketball in LuxembourgRick Leasure '09 became the new United States player for the BBC Bascharage Hedgehogs in Luxembourg. He left on October 20 and will stay there until May for the complete season.
Leasure was contacted by the Head Coach Christophe Flammang who was searching for available players on Eurobasket, a basketball website for professional players. He was chosen by Flammang because of his height (6'8"), his kills and viewing Leasure on film.
In this league, each team has 3 foreign players. Leasure is the only American and the other two are from Croatia and Belgium. The other players are from the Luxembourg area.
Several of the highlights from the BBC Bascharage Hedgehogs website described Leasure as "a very strong athlete who spends a lot of time in the weight room and takes great care of his body. He is a very strong perimeter player and shoots the 3 ball extremely well. Leasure has the knack for finding space and scoring on the break and excels at shooting off the dribble and coming off screens. He puts his team first at all times and makes his team better by spreading defenses out because of his shooting and scoring abilities."
Leasure has been playing professionally overseas since 2009 for teams in France and Uruguay. He has also played in Washington.
"I feel very lucky to get the opportunity to play for a team that is part of such a great league with a new coach to help build us in the right direction," said Leasure.
