Amigos in your Backyard event to be held Oct. 18

Did you know that the United States is the largest Spanish speaking country in the world? On Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, Amigos & More and the Lake Erie College Center for Leadership and Professional Development, will host an after-hours event titled, “The Amigos in Your Backyard – The Cultural, Social and Economic Impact of Latinos in Lake and Ashtabula Counties,” from 5-7 p.m. in the C.K. Rickel Theatre located in the Fine Arts Building.

The Hispanic population continues to grow at a rapid rate as both a workforce and consumer force. This event is aimed at educating who the population is, why they are here and what lies ahead. Attendees will leave with an understanding of the importance of reaching out to this market (for business profit) and the importance of understanding the culture. Those in attendance will also become familiar with the issues that may surface when employing Latinos.

Open to the public, the cost of the event is $5 and is payable at the door. For more information or to RSVP, contact the Painesville Chamber of Commerce at 440.357.7572 or exec@painsvilleohchamber.org.
