University Hospitals selects Lake Erie College MBA program for employees
Lake Erie College has been named the exclusive provider of a new on-site graduate program in health care leadership for University Hospitals (UH).
Lake Erie College was selected out of a number of area institutions to collaborate with UH in launching a unique MBA program designed specifically for those UH employees in pursuit of professional development. Beginning in January 2008, the College will welcome the first cohort of students at UH’s Management Services Center in Shaker Hts., Ohio. Lake Erie College already has prior experience with on-site cohorts as it launched a similar program with Parker Hannifin Corporation in January 2007.
A promise of UH is to provide superior outcomes through a unique and personalized experience for each patient. To deliver this promise they must attract, develop, engage and retain the most talented employees. This tailored program from Lake Erie College should help UH in achieving this mission.
“We believe that a MBA program in healthcare leadership developed specifically for and with UH can provide the organization’s present and future leaders with the skills and perspectives needed to thrive in a dynamic, challenging and rewarding industry,” said Robert Trebar, dean of management studies.
Lake Erie College appreciates the complexity of the environment in which today’s health care organization operates, which is why the curriculum will consist of a set of courses providing a thorough grounding in the essential management disciplines. Additional courses specific to the health care industry and environment round out the program.
Qualified students will engage in a customized learning environment, experience “real world” learning while addressing issues facing UH and healthcare, build relationships with other professionals throughout University Hospitals and gain exposure to UH leaders.
The courses will be taught by Lake Erie faculty. UH leadership will also have the opportunity to be involved in the educational process as guest speakers, project facilitators and mentors.
Lake Erie College intends to make the student logistics of this program as streamlined as possible, enabling admission and registration processes to be conducted on-line or through scheduled visits by Lake Erie personnel to UH facilities– truly making it a “full service” MBA program.
