Women's Soccer earns NSCAA Team Ethics Award

The Lake Erie College women’s soccer team earned the NSCAA’s Silver Team Ethics Award in 2007. Fifty-nine teams received either the Gold, Silver or Bronze version of the award which recognizes teams that exhibit fair play, sporting behavior and adherence to the laws of the game, as reflected by the number of yellow caution cards or red ejection cards they are shown by referees throughout the season.

The National Soccer Coaches Association of America awarded a total of five Gold Awards to teams completing the entire 2007 season without receiving either a yellow or red card. Forty teams claimed the Silver Award, which is given to teams that accumulate no red cards and a maximum of five yellow cards. The Bronze Award went to 14 teams, which is presented to teams that receive no reds and a maximum of 10 yellows.

The Storm totaled just two yellow cards in 19 games this season. They were one of three teams from the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) to earn recognition. Hilbert College received the Gold Award and Frostburg State University earned the Silver Award.

This is Lake Erie’s second time to be recognized by the NSCAA for ethics. The team earned the Gold Award for the 2002 season. Both honors came under the direction of head coach Lauren Ferullo.
