Basketball's Prince & Skopal

Selected to AMCC All-Conference Sportsmanship Team

PAINESVILLE, OH – March 31, 2008 – The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) selected Lake Erie College’s Katelyn Prince (Thompson, Ohio/Ledgemont) and Mark Skopal (Houston, Texas/Cypress Falls) to the AMCC All-Conference Sportsmanship Team as basketball representatives for the 2007-08 academic year.

Freshman guard Prince averaged 9.8 points and was the AMCC leader in 3-point field goals made with 64 for the second place Storm women’s team. She started in 14 of 26 games played, hitting at least one 3-pointer in each of the games while also tying the school record for three point shots made in a game with seven as the women recorded their most successful season in program history.

Senior center Skopal, who was a team co-captain, averaged 5.1 points and 3.5 rebounds starting in all 27 contests for the second place Storm men’s team. In his four seasons with Lake Erie, he appeared in 91 games and helped the team earn two AMCC Championships as well as two bids to the NCAA Tournament.

Members of the all-conference sportsmanship team represent the highest level of positive sporting conduct as exemplified in competition, in practice, and when participating as a spectator at other teams' sporting events. The team was developed this year as part of a continuing emphasis on the importance of good sportsmanship and ethical conduct. All varsity team members from the AMCC’s 10-member schools are eligible to be selected with one honoree per school per sport.
