Booher earns second place in national writing contest

Lake Erie College director of sports media relations Kristy Booher was awarded second place in the 2008 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Fred S. Stabley Sr. Writing Contest in the general feature category for District 4. Booher’s article “Storm Clouds Have Silver Lining,” which was also featured in the national publication Touchdown Illustrated, was among 388 total entries received for the national contest.

The contest is comprised of five categories, including athlete feature, general feature, coach/administrator profile, event coverage and historical feature. Members of CoSIDA are eligible for the contest which is judged by a district representative and a panel of three judges and is based on overall writing style, correct use of English, inventiveness, written presentation and the ease with which the reader acquires the information.

Booher’s article was one of 75 articles judged within District 4, which was the most received in any district in this year’s contest.

Booher, who has been the director of sports media relations at Lake Erie College since Sept. 2006, is a graduate of Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism.
