Lake Erie College and co-host the 2009 Student Entrepreneurship Challenge

In conjunction with National Entrepreneurs Week, and the Lake Erie College Center for Entrepreneurship will be hosting the 2009 Student Entrepreneurship Challenge Feb. 26 from 6-9 p.m. in the Coe Conference room located in the Arthur S. Holden Center.
As part of the Challenge, high school juniors and seniors will develop a business model. The students will select a product or service and then support why they have selected it and what purpose it serves or problems it solves in the marketplace. In essence, they will write a business plan to launch their idea.
Participating schools include, Lake Catholic, Mentor, Madison and Entrepreneurship Prep School and Wickliffe. Contestants will be judged beginning week of Feb. 16, narrowing the field to five finalists. The panel of judges is comprised of members of the Lake Erie College Center for Entrepreneurship. The top-three finishers will be awarded prizes, with the first-place winner earning a new laptop computer.
“It’s all about the future, our young entrepreneurs are the future of our region, the future of our state and the future of this country,” said Tom Lix, Ph.D., director of the Center for Entrepreneurship at Lake Erie College. “It is our job to encourage coach and support this group in any way we can!”
