Daly Selected to Participate in 2009 NCAA Student-Athlete Development Conference

Glenn Named as Alternate

Lake Erie College had one of its student-athletes selected to attend the 2009 NCAA National Student-Athlete Development Conference and another chosen as an alternate.

Junior soccer player Jared Daly (Hubbard, Ohio/Ursuline) is one of the 699 student-athletes chosen and one of just 37 men’s soccer players who will participate in the event which will take place May 24 to 27 in Orlando, Fla. at the Walt Disney World Coronado Spring Resort. The conference is open to all student-athletes at NCAA member institutions, but only a maximum of 233 are selected from each of the three divisions. This year, a total of 186 student-athletes were selected from the Division II level, which Lake Erie College is a current provisional member.

Dual sport student-athlete Ken Glenn (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) was selected as one of this year’s alternates. He was a second-year member of the Storm football and track and field teams.

This is the first time in conference history any student-athlete from Lake Erie College has been selected to participate in the four-day conference which consists of daily color team sessions, exercises, speakers and activities to help the student-athlete attendees develop as individuals and contributing members to society.

The 2009 conference theme is “A Journey of Self-Discovery: Unfold Your Future.” Programming will focus on self exploration, foundation building, skill application and interactive training conducted in conjunction with the U.S. Army.
