Johnson named March Intern of the Month
Shea-Lynn Johnson has been named Lake Erie College’s March Intern of the Month for her internships with Priestfield West, Boarding & Training LLC in Byron, Minn., and the Lake County Council on Aging in Mentor, Ohio.
Johnson is a native of Cannon Falls, Minn., and an equine facilities management major. She also participates in the Intercollegiate Dressage Association (IDA) and Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) clubs. IDA educates students on the art of dressage and IHSA hosts and competes in IHSA events.
Priestfield West is a small-scale horse farm in which Johnson assisted with chores, managed the employees, assisted with pasture rotation and the daily care of horses. She was also responsible for client, employee and management interrelations. Additionally, she developed a record system for the facility to use when interacting with veterinarians and farriers.
Throughout Johnson’s internship with the Lake County Council on Aging, she has coordinated and publicized all of the Wednesday evening speakers and monthly programs. In addition to media relations, she was responsible for assisting with marketing plans and the marketing campaign, while also writing articles for the quarterly newspaper.
The Lake Erie College Intern of the Month program is designed to recognize students who have utilized internship opportunities and gained useful knowledge and experience from those endeavors. The program also serves to promote the merits of internships.
Intern of the Month recipients, in addition to their positive intern credentials, should be of high moral and ethical character and in good standing with all facets of the Lake Erie College community. To be considered for Intern of the Month, students must complete an application form and grant permission for the Career Services & Internships Office to review College academic and judicial records.
