Lake Erie Storm Track & Field Camp set for July

Lake Erie College will host a Storm Track & Field Camp on Saturday, July 17, 2010 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Perry High School Track. Each participant will receive a t-shirt and informational packet which includes all techniques and lessons taught at the camp.

The camp is designed to provide individualized instruction for high school athletes. Topics to be discussed include proper warm-ups, sprint mechanics, hurdle, jump and block techniques, nutrition, weights and distance training. Campers will receive instruction from coaches who have either been or coached National Qualifying athletes.

Participants should bring workout clothes, running shoes (trainers), spikes, lunch and snacks, a water bottle and sunscreen. Track events that will be covered are sprints, jumps, hurdles and distance.

The camp is open to all athletes ninth grade through seniors in high school (NO 2010 graduates). Coaches and parents are invited to attend for free as long as they have an athlete present.

The cost is $100 per athlete; however, there is a team discount. If seven or more athletes are from the same school (seven boys or seven girls, not a mix of genders) attend, there will be a flat $500 fee for the group. In order to register as a team, all forms must be sent together.

Those who wish to pre-register can do so by sending the Registration/Waiver Form and payment by July 2, 2010. Late registration will be from 7:30 a.m. to 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, located at the camp. A $10 late fee will be charged and a legal guardian MUST sign the waiver in order to late register.
