Advantages of the Lake Erie College Physician Assistant Program

  • History of Excellence
    • Since 1856, Lake Erie College has offered outstanding educational opportunities for its students. The Princeton Review ranks Lake Erie College as one of the "Best in the Midwest.”
    • The campus is located 30 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio. The beautifully lush historic campus is comprised of 46 acres and 18 buildings.

  • Outstanding Faculty
    • The PA program faculty-to-student ratio is an impressive 8:1 with over 50% of the instructional faculty having a doctorate in either medicine or health sciences.
    • All of the core PA program faculty currently practice in clinical medicine and together have over 30 years of clinical experience.
    • Our Medical Director is a former Commander, Training Air Wing One, and Staff Flight Surgeon with 30 years of experience in Internal Medicine. In addition he is the Chief Medical Officer and Chief Ethics Officer for University Hospitals in Cleveland.
    • Pharmacology and Anatomy & Physiology course instruction is provided by faculty holding dual MD/PhD degrees.
    • Genetics course instruction is provided by a PhD with extensive experience in molecular genetics.
  • World-Class Clinical Experiences
    • Lake Erie College has partnered with University Hospitals, one of the nation’s leading health care systems, providing high-quality, patient-centered medical care at locations throughout Northeast Ohio.
    • Students will experience early clinical experiences starting within the first several weeks of the didactic training phases. Students will have early exposure to clinical medicine to enhance their learning and create excitement for patient care.
    • Students will experience several off-site clinical experiences including:
      • Coroner’s Office
      • Psychiatric Clinic
      • Genetics Laboratory
    • Students will have access to multiple career opportunities in Northeast Ohio with world-class facilities that are rich in need for Physician Assistants.
