Apollo’s Fire Baroque Orchestra to perform “Mediterranean Nights” at Lake Erie College
NO TICKETS REMAIN

Apollo’s Fire, the internationally-renowned Cleveland Baroque Orchestra, will perform “Mediterranean Nights: Sultry Songs & Passionate Dances from Italy and Spain” at Lake Erie College on Monday, Nov. 2, at 7 p.m. in the Morley Music Building.

“Mediterranean Nights” is presented by an eight-piece ensemble consisting of two violins, cello, theorbo, guitars, percussion and harpsichord. The presentation will feature soprano Nell Snaidas, Spanish dancer Steve Player and violinist Veronika Skuplik-Hein. The musicians will explore the passionate chamber works of Castello, Marini, Martin y Coll, Uccellini, Merula and Hidalgo. Jeanette Sorrell’s arrangement of Boccherini’s Fandango Quintet for harpsichord, castanets, strings, guitar and dancer will conclude the event.

The free event is sponsored by the City of Painesville, Lake County Fund of the Cleveland Foundation, Lake Erie College Center for Entrepreneurship, Lake Health, Lake National Bank, National Alumni Board of Lake Erie College, Painesville Community Improvement Corporation and Rotary Club of Painesville.

“The College is very pleased to bring performers of such stature to our campus,” said President Michael T. Victor. “We are thankful to those community organizations that came together to be co-sponsors of this event. It is truly a show of support and appreciation for the arts in our community.”

Apollo’s Fire was founded in 1992 by Jeannette Sorrell, a young award-winning harpsichordist and conductor who studied with Gustav Leonhardt in Amsterdam. The ensemble was launched with the assistance of Roger Wright, then artistic administrator of the Cleveland Orchestra and presently head of classical programming at the BBC.

This event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. No tickets remain for this event.
