Paul Belanger Named Interim Vice President
of Academic Affairs and Dean at Lake Erie College
(PAINESVILLE, OHIO) - Retired biology professor, Paul Belanger
has returned to the Lake Erie College campus as Interim
Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the College
effective June 19, 2006. Belanger will be responsible for
overseeing all academic areas of the College while a search
for a replacement dean is conducted.
Belanger retired at the end of the 2005-2006 academic years
after 30 years of service to the College. He held many positions
over the years, including professor of biology, director
of the environmental science program, chair of the science
and mathematics area and associate dean of arts and sciences.
"Paul Belanger is the perfect fit for interim dean,"
said Michael Victor, president of the College. "We
needed someone who had the respect of the faculty and would
work hard to help move important projects ahead. Paul works
well with his peers and is personally dedicated to the College.

Belanger earned his BS from the University of Massachusetts,
MA from Syracuse University and Ph.D. from SUNY College
of Environmental Science and Forestry at Syracuse. He is
a Certified Senior Ecologist (Ecological Society of America)
and is a member of the Ecological Society of America, Animal
Behavioral Society and the Society for Conservation Biology.
He also serves as President of the Grand River Partners,
Inc., is a Trustee of the Lake Parks Foundation and volunteers
at the Lake Metroparks, Burroughs Nature Club. Originally
from Holyoke, MA, Belanger and his wife Susan reside in
Madison Village, Ohio.
"Although I was prepared for retirement, I felt it
was important to return to campus and honor the request
to fill the vacancy on a temporary basis," said Belanger.
"The faculty of this College is superb and I am honored
to serve and assist them."
