Professional Development Courses

Lake Erie College's Center for Leadership and Professional Development serves the continuing education needs of degree professionals. We provide a variety of services through collaborative partnerships that respond to the ongoing and emerging needs of our local region as well as internationally while showcasing our programs, faculty, staff and students. Lake Erie College presently offers various workshops for educators, attorneys, psychologists and social worker/counselors for which CEU's are awarded and, customized in-house/ contract business training in the areas of organizational, management development, leadership, innovation and strategic planning.

 


For Educators

Spring Seminars
Spring Seminars will be held on campus on Friday evenings from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Online Courses

Online classes offer either rolling registration anytime through April 13, 2012 or dates as listed under Mark Barnes' and Joelle Warsh's course offerings.

Basic Mediation Training

12 CEUs for Ohio Social Workers, Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists (Pending)
12 CLE's for Ohio Attorneys (Pending)
1 Semester Hour (1SH) Professional Development Graduate Credit for Teachers/Educators

This Basic Mediation workshop meets the twelve-hour pre-requisite requirement for other mediation trainings approved by Ohio Supreme Court of Ohio. This workshop will leave participants with a better appreciation of the value of conflict in individual’s lives and how to use mediation skills to move those in conflict toward resolution and personal growth.

Understand the nature of conflict and basis of conflict as well as strategies to mediate conflict with a problem-solving model. Attendees will learn their individual conflict resolution style to orient themselves as mediators, practice the six step process with tools provided and demonstrate skills in problem-solving and dispute resolution.

Fee: $259 for certification, $200 for educator professional development graduate credit.

Lake Erie College’s continuing education certificate program (not for Lake Erie College academic or degree college credit) provides dynamic training partnering with horses in human development as applied to: Therapy (social work, counseling, etc.), Organizational Development as applied to leadership teamwork and coaching, Creative Arts, Education.
