Lake Erie College Accounting Club
The Accounting Club was organized and adopted as a formal student organization/club during October 2010. Faculty advise over the Lake Erie College Accounting Club in which membership is open to all students enrolled at the college. The purpose of this organization is to bridge classroom experiences to the professional business environment. This includes providing opportunities for self-development, service and association among members and practicing professionals, and encouraging a sense of ethical, social, and public responsibility.
The Accounting Club bring in guest speakers during the academic year. This past year they brought in the following speakers:
- 10/2/2012 Jennifer Gomes, Autumn Harvey and David Krzys – Three recent LEC graduates who all landed strong full time accounting positions
- 2/26/2013 Angie Ferenchak – Recruiter with Robert Half
- 4/2/2013 Frank Suponcic, CPA and CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner) with Skoda Minotti and Terri Miller, EA (Enrolled Agent) with Miller & Associates
Once a year the Accounting Club attends Leroy Elementary School to teach the Fifth Grade class about Financial Literacy – Service Component
For the past three years the Accounting Club has gone to Progressive Field and met with the accounting/business professionals for the owners of the Cleveland Indians and then stay for a game.
