Student Government Association (SGA)
The Student Government Association (SGA) provides all students at Lake Erie College with representation and influence regarding a variety of policies, actions and activities. The SGA Cabinet includes the president, vice president, secretary and treasurer of this organization. The Executive Board includes those officers and the class senators along with the representatives from select student populations from campus.
The functions and powers of the Cabinet and Executive Board are the following:
- To formulate and officially express the student views concerning affairs of the college.
- To serve as a forum in which students, faculty and administrators consider matters of general concern to the college.
- To initiate concerns for the betterment and good of student life and/or the college community as a whole. Proposals shall be referred to appropriate administrators or agencies as necessary.
- To recognize student activities, enterprises, organizations and events and to supervise their operations.
- To allocate student general fund money and supervise its expenditures.
- To review actions of individual students.
All students serving in elected offices on SGA must maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.75.
SGA elections are held in the middle of each spring semester. Eligibility requirements for Cabinet and Executive positions are outlined in the Student Government Association Constitution (available in the Student Life Office upon request).
SGA meets every other Sunday at 5:30pm in the Kilcawley Board Room. All students are welcome to attend Executive Board meetings (unless otherwise announced). Business casual attire is suggested. Meetings of the Cabinet are closed to the general student body.
