Alumna Michele Riley to present at equine insurance luncheon

On Friday, April 29, Lake Erie College alumna Michele Riley will return to campus for a special luncheon presentation on the topic of equine insurance. The luncheon, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 12:00 p.m. in room 302 of the Arthur S. Holden Center.

Originally from Lordstown, Ohio, Riley is a member of the Lake Erie College Class of 1992 and holds a B.S. in equestrian education. Following graduation, she spent several years on the show circuit grooming for Olympian Robert Dover before returning to Northeast Ohio to compete in show jumping and eventing with her own horse.

Riley moved to Memphis, Tennessee in 2007 and purchased a 14-acre farm where she ran a boarding, training and lesson program with her own horses to show. She also went to work for her husband at the time in a bail bonds office that the couple purchased, which served as her first venture in the world of insurance.

After this experience, Riley started her own agency, Serenity Equine Insurance Agency LLC, in 2008, before moving to Stuart, Florida with her horses and her boxer in 2012. Here she continued her own education of dressage with FEI trainer Heather Bender. Riley competed in the 2014 USDF National Championships in Kentucky and placed well in the Prix St. George, Intermediare I and II freestyle classes.

Riley now continues to work as a licensed broker at Serenity Equine Insurance where she sells equine and farm insurance. Her presence and contacts in and among the Wellington circuit have allowed her to grow her insurance business from just a handful of clients to more than 30 and growing.

Riley’s luncheon presentation is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Guest will receive a boxed lunch. To register, visit For more information, contact Pam Palermo at
